I have a question about poppy's ult

I've been playing her a lot recently and I've been having a lot of fun. But I was wondering why does her ult send enemies back towards the spawn? Wouldn't it make more sense for it to instead send them flying in the direction you had pointed it? It would make for more interesting use of the ability in my opinion and provide tactical uses for it besides simply knocking enemies towards a safety zone. I still use it for knocking half of the enemy team away in team fight so we can get easy kills and I use it to peel for the ADC a lot too. It's a very good ability and I honestly have a blast using it. I just wonder why it sends enemies towards a safety zone rather then in the direction you pointed it?

Just wondering is all.

OP? how so. you can knock back someone with the direction you pointed to with other ults in the game. lee sin. and tristana. and both of these do more damage. the knock back isn't as much. but honestly i find the ult to be more of a harm than good. i get ulted many times. into safety and chat "thanks" because i was gonna die otherwise lol. and as i play poppy i somtimes ult squishies with no visible health bar left and it still doesn't kill them. back to safety. it should knock people into the direction it points at even if it means they need to reduce the knock back. tbh i dont even understand the ult purpose. sure. have i made some successful peels. yes. but a smart team would just walk backwards for 2 seconds towards each other and we're back and the same deal.can't it stun the knocked back enemies if they are knocked back to the maximum distance ? that would make it more useful than the extremely rarely situational tool it is now. that owuldn't be op as many champs have AOE stuns and roots on regular abilities. and we're talking about an ult here

Probably to make it almost exclusively a disengage tool. It's much harder to set up a wombo-combo with it when you can't knock them into your turret or something when they get to lane because you were hiding in their lane bush :3
