so these 2 things should be very similar they give you burst of defenses so you stay in fight longer. but why does reduces your dmg? you paying for it 2500 gold and active reduces dmg dealt. aftershock is free, you get high dmg reduction but no dmg reduction

Because it can turn a 5000hp Sion/Chogath into a 10000 hp Sion/Chogath who can then proc their Locket of Solari to give a 1000+ shield to their teammates.

No. Just having aftershock is enough, saves you of Gargoyle Stobeplate investment on the first place.

unlike Gargoyle Stoneplate, Afterahick can be used on full damage champs like Lissandra. But then again, both are useless against Conqueror and true damage.
