META: strongly enforced, Strategy and OBJECTIVE PRIORITY: do whatever you want.

Why has the meta organically evolved and been enforced but no one knows whether to take dragon or the inhib. There should be a best option when given a finite set of variables. But I always here people saying this or that. In reality I would say it is about speed, timing, and execution. People go for Baron when they don't need it even though it will slow them down and give the enemy a chance to come back. Willie Nillie is not a strategy.

WHY IS THERE NO ORGANIC EVOLUTION OF A STRATEGIC META?

I'm not mad but I do want to know what others think. Is the game too complicated to know what to do given a scenario?

EX: Team comps are equal: 1 Bruiser, Snowball, Tank, ADC, Lockdown Supp. What have you. 2 Drag is UP. Your side has exposed the enemy's top inhib. everyone is alive at Level 9 (maybe not supps) 3 Your adc and mid laner are mid, Supp backed to buy sightstone. Topper is returning to lane with upgraded vision 4 Bot lane has only taken first turret, Mid opponent's MID turret stills stands and you only have 1K advantage. EDIT: you have a 3500 gold advantage including turret gold.

What would you do as shotcaller? Give next three shots.

Typical bronze game in this scenario

  1. Report top, trash
  2. Mid says" report adc, in my lane, taking cs"
  3. You attempt to dragon except your top laner is singed with ignite so he isnt there and you get wiped.
  4. Your jungle is udyr and has not ganked for the entire game and just keeps saying "devourer stacks op, just wait guys"
  5. You attempt to make a large comeback by taking baron after you kill 2 of them but your jungler smited gromp just before so it gets stolen and you lose baron and the game.

I don't think I've ever had a game where all of that happened at once. Of course, I generally refuse to group for dragon, so my teams are less likely to try to contest it after the 2nd one.

ZileanUltJesusOP2 votes

why would you refuse to group for dragon? dragon is an extremely important objective in winning the game.

I flat out disagree. I think it's the least important major objective in the game, and also it's the objective that's most likely to be left out for free at some point. No doubt, there are times when you'd be better off contesting dragon than not doing so, but as bronzies we are FAR more likely to fuck ourselves over than profit. Unless we have a 10+ kill lead, I ain't going to dragon, and I hope that forces you to not either. Wait for the dragon to be free or until they're getting their 5th.

I actually disagree with this. With the second buff of drag giving what is it 12/13% tower damage bonus it is a buff you CANNOT ignore. It will change the course of how you push, and sure, going 5 in on drag is going to lead to chaos, it's much smarter to have 2 lanes push while allowing a max of 2-3 to try to take a drag when the enemy is on the defensive/distracted by the one lane not guarded. Easily the 3 at drag could turn their sights to say bot like in this scenario, counter the push after taking the drag, and then siege the tower.

bro i am not bronze lol and everyone above bronze knows how important dragon is to winning the game. The buffs it gives you can't be ignored especially the 1st, 2nd, and 5th. They are crucial for winning. Even the fourth is incredibly important as it makes you do much more damage to baron. 3rd is a little useless but still nice. You basically just proved my point up there correct about bronze. I have never heard somebody say dragon isn't important until today. Its reasons like these that you are most likely bronze.

You can comment on your level only since everything is relative and equal. If everyone is bronze no one thinks its important. answer the question without Div shaming.

i wasn't shaming your division, i didn't even know yours when i commented, it was meant to be a joke.

I'm plat. Dragon is a snowball objective. It helps close out games but not when you are behind.

not ture

Surprisingly true

Grouping for drag is unproductive if you have vision you know how long you have to take drag. You don't need to take everyone off task for one objective.

I didn't say you did, however this is the exact reason why top laners take tp. Contrary to popular belief it isnt so you can get to lane faster, its for tp ganks and dragon fights, jungle and bot lane should be at drag and mid should be hovering. If things get dicy, top tp's in. Drag is too important to let it slip to the other team and a well timed tp from top could mean getting dragon and securing a couple kills as well.

UnfathomableWin1 votes

That's how I would do it too, except I'd definitely hope the Supp would be mostly lurking between mid and drag, more so mid, so in case bad stuff goes down mid he can help, or he can slow the enemy/distract them if they started to go for drag to counter you.

This makes sense to me.

Funny. I do like that screen name

there's still too many unknown variables in your example.

at lvl 9 champs who have an early to mid game power spike are going to win fights against a late game comp. instance, your adc is vayne/trist/kog'maw they have a draven/twitch. team fights are likely tilted there way unless your adc is significantly farther ahead.

you can have a gold lead and still be behind in team fight potential.

what summoners are up, how are you ahead when they have turret lead?

Occams Raiser1 votes

there are unknowns but they are finite. To say there is a group of unknowns that would swing a 1% percent probability choice to a 99% is what I am talking about. Give me a third choice besides taking drag or the free inhib that don't conflict with variables I have given you.

galdamesh1 votes

ahh wait it's there inhib that is exposed I thought it was your inhib exposed.

if you have a 4 turret lead and are only ahead by 1000g means you are getting stomped in team fights or picked off continuously.

depending on your comps ability to excecute it, a split push with either the 4 on the top and one bot, or 3 top 1 mid 1 bot.

with the information given, I have to assume with such a heavy tower advantage but such a meager gold advantage you are losing team fights so unless you can get a pick you can't contest drag so having the most people in top allows pressure on the inhib but you also can't allow a 5v5 team fight so need some pressure elsewhere.

if they try to rush drag you can take inhib, if they go 5 to stop the push your split push(ers) can pressure other lanes while the 3 stall, if they match your split push that's where more variables come in and you need to know if you're stronger in the 1v1 or the 4v4 or 3v3.

This reasoning makes sense to me. My apologies as well. I tend to think in terms of kills. When I meant 1k lead I treated it like your progress had not come from team stomping but from objective taking. I did not consider the gold that destroying turrets gets you. The way I put it you would have had everyone on each team dying. EDIT incoming.

  1. Ping top lane to watch for the TP to drag in case things get brutal, let him push.
  2. Ping ADC to go w/ JG for Drag
  3. Ping Mid and supp to create pressure on the mid lane, while hoping supp would ward their side of the jg on either side of mid for an easy/safe route to assist inhib/drag if needed. Of course I'm assuming that their bot lane would find the ADC and jg at drag because of the first tower push, and force a fight, which hopefully the supp w/ new sightstone prepared them for. Mid/Supp close by in mid to help w/ drag fight in case they all 5 rush to drag, then top can TP to one of the wards, maybe even recall first so he can get the homeguard buff before the TP

Kinda feels like chess when you put it down in writing. Always feels like checkers when you play it though. xD "I'mma do this, wait #$%&, mistakes were made!"

There is planing and execution. Poor execution never negates an attempt at good planing.

I've noticed a lot of well planned strategies are ruined by a greed for kills/farm/buffs. Instead of focusing on the greater picture a large majority of people tend to focus on their limited tunnel vision (locked camera is a serious problem in Bronze), and are willing to sacrifice teammates for that 1 kill, 1 buff, or 1-2-3 minis. Blood lust is a serious issue with this game, even I get it sometimes when I'm losing bad and get desperate for gold. I'm also speaking with the perspective of my new Bronze 5 life though so I'm a tad biased. Not Div shaming, just stating.

This is the difference between good a bad teams. They divert from a plan or fail to make one.
