CertainlyT's reasoning behind forcing morde into bot

Malicious Metal··232 votes·8,145 views

He sees no other way for him to be "healthy" out there in a solo lane. No No! NO!

You don0t have the right to condemn a champion to the gutter simply because you think he isn't healthy! Especially not you! You who created abominations like Kalista!

Somebody get this idiot off the morde rework!

CertainlyT has no right to deem anything healthy or unhealthy. That's unbelievable that he'd have the audacity to make judgment calls like that. Hey T, while you're making judgments, what do you call these cancerous fucking monsters??

Thresh Yasuo Kalista

You want to tell me that Morde is unhealthy, but these things AREN'T?? Why are you working on Morde when there are more pressing matters to attend to, like reworking these disasters of creation?

A Miss Fortune32 votes

Don't forget Zyra who was insanely overpowering on release and had to be hotfixed about two days after her release since by playing her you instantly won the game and Darius

Nameless Voice34 votes

Overpowered is not the same as having a badly-designed kit.

One can be fixed by tweaking numbers and is no big deal. The other cannot be fixed without a rework and is a huge deal.

Binxy Prime10 votes

Then rework him, keep some of the flavor, there are ways to make interesting bruisers, look at Sion before they destroyed all his consistency for no reason. They should have just left Morde alone. Look if he IS good enough to force ADCs outside of bot lane then he is gonna get nerfed so hard that he won't be viable anyways. And if hes not (lets be honest he won't be) then no one plays him there either. So basically what this travesty of a rework does is force Mordekaiser to be a top or mid laner with 3 abilities instead of 4.

Morello designed Zyra.

A Miss Fortune43 votes

Actually, multiple people designed Zyra.

TurquoiseYoshi19 votes

Including CertainlyT.

Narasimha6 votes

Zyra's release strength... has NOTHING to do with CertainlyT. A designer DESIGNS the character, as in the kit. Power budget is literally not his department. Hate on him if you want, but atleast be damn correct about it.

Poske11 votes

Well if you add 5 effects to each ability ...Then its on him

Only Play Darius9 votes

People like Thresh though.....

Keevalroy21 votes

I only play thresh because there is literally no better option for support. I abused the fact that he has no drawbacks whatsoever to get to gold. I'm not proud of that but it happened and I'll admit to it.

Fear Popo6 votes

Janna is the best support now and has been for quite a while.

Anidan9 votes

She's the most 'meta' support, maybe. Thresh is the best overall support, just maybe not the most useful right now. Janna comes in and out of the meta as it changes, but Thresh... He's always there. Always present.

And he always will be, thanks to his kit. Even now, with Janna being the 'best' support, he is still used more often. I wonder why that may be if Janna is clearly superior.

Fear Popo5 votes

Nope, Janna has been consistently picked throughout all meta's at high level of play.

AutoreactiveCD45 votes

If thresh did massive amounts of damage and could 1v1 non-supports then I'd have an issue. Currently he just sets things up for his team to succeed. He has almost every tool he would need for this which makes it pretty easy to do though.

Ratbert6 votes

What support can do either of those except full ap "supports" or ad "supports" in a kill lane? Thresh has everything except healing in his kit, every other support lacks in at least two areas.

Bisaknosp42 votes

why dont they fire this guy? his champs are the most unhealthy from all dumb fuck

Only Play Darius12 votes

Darius

I feel like he was designed from the ground up to be as toxic and anti-fun as possible, but i'll be damned if he isn't insanely fun to play!

Narasimha15 votes

Because his champions ARE fun to play, is the awkward part. Kind of like Teemo. Fun to play as, Satan to play against. And fun champions means people are more likely to invest and buy skins for them. So he's probably making Rito a good bit of money.

Keevalroy20 votes

Which is why his designs are protected and worshiped by Riot. It's all about the income he can bring in. Fuck the player experience right? Who cares about how they feel to play against, load up the next champion with 30 passives and an instant no-cooldown teleport they can use across the map. Think of the #BigPlays!

Anidan9 votes

One day they'll reach into the crevice of the cracks of humanity's Forgotten. From that crevice, they will pull an unholy relic from an age long-since forsaken and willfully cast away from the light of our memory. And on that day, from the abyss they will pull the Dark Terminator from pre-reciped items-era DotA. He will rise from the darkest Hells of his despicable plane to take back his infernal crown.

Riot will sit on a mountain of cash from Dark Terminator players on one end of their headquarters, and a pile of ignored complaints letters on the other side of the headquarters.

AutoreactiveCD47 votes

His design process seems to be put everything that he would have fun playing as onto 3 different champions. Then taking those three merging them together with while asking himself what are the most annoying aspects of this kit and how can I make them even more annoying?

My question is, why does Riot continue to allow this man to ruin their game more and more? After Kalista got pushed out under the radar (because I can not believe there would be an entire division of people stupid enough to allow a champ like that to get through), why was he not taken off the Champ Development team?

Why are you so... daft? The champion designers job is to make champions which are fun; moreover, league of legends is absurdly powercreeped; every champion is either more powerful than the last, or weak as balls.

Its not the designers job to balance a champion. Its the bloody balance teams job. Why do so few of you sheep understand that? Kalista, your gods be damned sacrifice to the volcano, would have been balanced except for her passive; Aside from her passive, her kit is very fine. Her passives only flaw was that got BETTER with two stats; high double scaling is never a good thing. That being said, release kalista should have been nerfed in one of three ways: -1% dash distance per 1% attack speed (Up to 50%) -T2 boot scaling

  • Boot scaling

Instead, because you morons needed a figure to hate, you all bloody demanded a gutting of what could have been a very fine hypercarry; Now, if you nerf the thing that makes her so "toxic" you bloody ruin the champion because of all the nerfs to the wrong places. All because you sheep couldnt take your rabies shot and were frothing at the mouth like a bunch of mange ridden mutts. Some of you will say "b-buh her E!" Her E is a crit replacement; its dependent entirely on her being able to land attacks; in the current "power meta" every champion she WOULD be fighting against has some kind of flash, dash, or other kind of escape mechanic. It just so happens that this is not only a direct result of power creep, but it also means that against champions with no such escape mechanic, she becomes oppressive because she was DESIGNED with escapes in mind (Coincidentally, the nerf that would bring her in line, is the one you morons completely ignored).

Before you beg for the burning of your bloody mob-minded, sheeple induced witch take a moment and THINK. Use your bloody noodle.

Lucifer17 votes

Do you know how much contrary shit is in your statement?

It's not just their job to make the champions fun to play as, but also FUN to play against (or at least bearable). Certainly T completely fails in that regard.

You wanna talk about power creep? Let's look at how he's actively contributed to that... especially with the mobility of Yasuo and Kalista. There's a reason he is the most despised champion designer in the game.

Yes, there is. Its because this community of sheep need a figure to hate.

How many champions have come out lately that have been CT's designs? Whats that, most of them?! Why, wouldnt that mean designers work on multiple concepts at a time, and that multiple designers have their own deadlines?! What a bloody revolutionary idea.

Think of it like this, guy: Within riot there are many champion concepts floating around the design offices. Around 20 or so concepts at any given time, with designers penning, spitballing, and refining any of them with each other. The result of this is that power-creep is something heavily influenced by the pipeline; something we are not generally privy to aside from a rough idea of whats in it.

Let me... explain something, not related, but important. _Riot has become incapable of creating satisfying concepts. Its a result of the rabid playerbase demanding MOAR at every turn until things become black and gray. _ A champion in league of legends is one of two things: ROFLstompy, where they snowball hard and become very opressive, Or Simply not satisfying to play.

Take braum and bard as an example; Bard is not fun to play as for most people. Bard is not fun to play against, because he stalls the lane due to his lack of reliable waveclear. However, bard can go top, mid, or support and be mediocre. Braum is not capable of playing anything more than support. As a support, unless your ADC is good, you fail utterly and feel useless because you are gold dependent. Then you have Kalista and Jinx. Kalista is useless when behind. you FEEL useless when behind. Kalista however has the option to top lane as a duelist, a role which she does very well in. Jinx is useless when behind. You FEEL useless when behind. Jinx does not have other lane options, due to her reliance on gold.

Instead of blaming a singular dev, blame the entire champion design team and blame the bloody community for forcing riot into this position.

You know, i was actually... rather salty at the changes riot had made lately; the blatant copying of other successful MOBA systems. But now, im kind of okay with it. I honestly hope riot leaves the "Nerf it till it stops" mentality and goes into the "Buff everyone else till they compete" mentality. Only problem with the buff mentality is that you would need either hard CC, stick, tank, or mobility on every single kit.

Dextix LT8 votes

We forced riot to make overloaded champions with every tool in the game and 10 passives? No we didnt.

Ulquiorra99521 votes

And why, CertainlyT, is there no way for him to be healthy in solo lane? Because of his damage and durability? SAME FUCKING THINGS YOUR DARLING Darius , WHO IS GETING HUGELY BUFFED BY THESE CHANGES BY THE WAY, DOES? But noo, he's your baby boy, your first champion. First of all the fun to face and counter play-filled champs you designed.

Honestly, you are the last person to make judgements on how 'unhealthy' someone can be since you make THE worst champions to face.

Varalessia18 votes

I've said it a few times, CertainlyT designs cool champions in concept, but things that also have literally zero place in the League balancing philosophy. I'll use Yasuo's Windwall as something wrong since it's very thought, a projectile blocker that has no windup time and completely bars so many things with the only counter play being 'go around it and hope he doesnt kill you while youre running around like a headless chicken"

Keevalroy7 votes

As much as I hate everything he makes, he's creative. Yeah I'll give him creativity as a perk, but he's oblivious to balance and game health. His creations have absolutely no place in this game regardless of what Riot wants to believe.

It's insanely easy being "creative" if you completely disregard everything, and just create something different.

Take the new gp for example:he is very different, but he isn't a retarded piece of shit, and that is hard to do.

Creating something like kalista/thresh/yasuo which is just throwing an immense amount of tools and mobility into one champion isn't hard, any moron can do it.

kiloechoesp1 votes

"any moron can do it"

You have to realize that it's Riot's job to try to make champions interesting or powerful on release... so ppl will spend more RP for it. Then, a champion designer would have to make their abilities fit with the champion art and design. Theeeeeen, he would have to collaborate with the artists, writers, and balance team to create an awesome champion.

So for balance, the champion abilities have to be easily tweaked for pro play. If the artists and writers don't like the ability, they will rip it to shreds. Riot tries to make money, so a kit can't be overloaded to the point where another future champion with similar abilities would become a lesser version.

So the champion has to be different than any from the past, be fun and balanced in the present, and not interfere with the making of future champions.

CertainlyT would probably work on another champion in the future. 2 of the most popular champions in LoL...: Thresh Yasuo

Yeah, even I can do it in less than an hour.

No,it isn't,release champion buys are a small fraction of their earnings, keeping the game in a good state is much more profitable.

Then, a champion designer would have to make their abilities fit with the champion art and design.

Oh please, thresh's lantern ally pull and shield have nothing to do with him in any way or form, creating a bunch of shinny particles doesn't make it fit champion art and design, saving and shielding allies IS NOT thresh's thing, yet he does so anyway.

Theeeeeen, he would have to collaborate with the artists, writers, and balance team to create an awesome champion.

Not really,I mean yes their work is hard, but you don't really need to collaborate with them much, you give them a general outline(for yasuo it's wanderer samurai) and let them do their thing.

So for balance, the champion abilities have to be easily tweaked for pro play.

So that's why thresh has been perma dominating in the pro scene...and solo q...

If the artists and writers don't like the ability, they will rip it to shreds.

No,they won't,there's no way in hell any writer/artist thought "hey, thresh's lantern...it fit's on him thematically",if they had any say in it that ability would not have went through,it is THE VERY OPPOSITE OF THRESH.

Riot tries to make money, so a kit can't be overloaded to the point where another future champion with similar abilities would become a lesser version.

Oh please, newer champions have been invalidating older ones for god knows how long, they aren't even trying to buff things like brand/lux/zyra,just fuck them, let's create azir instead.

So the champion has to be different than any from the past,

when you completely disregard every other thing, that's very easy to achieve.

be fun and balanced in the present,

Thresh balanced? LOL! Thresh doesn't know the meaning of balance, thresh doesn't give a fuck about it.

and not interfere with the making of future champions.

You just keep powercreeping, why would that be a problem.

CertainlyT would probably work on another champion in the future. 2 of the most popular champions in LoL...: Thresh Yasuo

The only reason these shitheads are so popular is because the first one is op garbage since his release, and the other is an incredibly hard counter which if mastered and picked against certain things, grants wins from champion select.

Keevalroy3 votes

Yeah, even I can do it in less than an hour.

I had to do some digging, but I made a kit about 8 months ago.

Passive - Safety Box. A recharging Windwall that creates a box when --Champion-- is in danger of being hit with a skillshot with extra armor pen while it's down.

Q - Super Slam! A targeted knockup that heals for a percentage of the damage dealt and it's cooldown is lowered depending on how many champions are hit and grants movement speed running toward them while they are airborne.

W - Righteous Light. A light orb that can be dropped to give vision, passively providing 5/10/15/20/25 magic resistance and grants an attack speed bonus for champions within it's range, and lowers the armor and mr of enemy champions. Retrieving the orb, --Champion-- gains bonus health regen.

E - Miracle Dodge. A resourceless dash with no cooldown going in the direction of your cursor. --Champion-- will monitor your progress and deem successful dodges worthy or not of LCS BIG PLAYS! Gaining the stacking buff LCS BIG PLAYS grants --Champion-- increased gold generation from minions and champion kills.

R - Alter of the T - --Champion-- sacrifices his/her teammates for the glory of CertainlyT, granting him/her increased base stats, and twice the power of his/her abilities for the remainder of the game.

By demanding this you may as well tell riot not to innovate with new champion kits. Some of the more interesting champions in the game have had him on the project. Also making/reworking a champion are NEVER solo jobs. He may have the name stamp but that's because he was LEAD on the project. Others reviewed/tested/helped brainstorm these changes and were reviewed by others that that champ was ok to deploy. Not to mention he's been on teams to make champions or balance changes that have worked out pretty nicely.

Game design is never a solo act and this stuff is essentially harassment but it's the internet so it's ok right?

AMYS GRAVE6 votes

Wow, way to take everything i said and twist it beyond belief.

By demanding this you may as well tell riot not to innovate with new champion kits.

You act like CertainlyT is the only one who can do this when riot has several champion designers successfully innovating fresh kits all the time.

Also making/reworking a champion are NEVER solo jobs. He may have the name stamp but that's because he was LEAD on the project. Others reviewed/tested/helped brainstorm these changes and were reviewed by others that that champ was ok to deploy.

Which means he is the one that needs to be held responsible. Others may have had a hand in it, but as the lead on the project the buck stops with him.

Not to mention he's been on teams to make champions or balance changes that have worked out pretty nicely.

But he has no business being a LEAD champion designer. Ok maybe i should have posted #DemoteCertainlyT instead, that just doesn't have the same ring to it. Out of curiosity what champions did he help on that you think turned out well?

Game design is never a solo act and this stuff is essentially harassment but it's the internet so it's ok right?

  1. This isn't harassment, its observation. He is failing at his job pretty hardcore.

  2. On the internet or not, harassment is never ok.

Also if you want the # use \#. the \ is the escape character and means "i literally want the character that follows, ignore its use for formatting purposes".

EDIT: also wow, they delete our posts for harassment just because we point out that he isn't doing his job... that's actually pretty petty of them.
