It was both A and B.
I know its not good talking about the player base but you know how some people are.
I hate Yasuo because of how unfun his kit is and sure it has counter play but his damage is just too much with Fervor of battle and the fact that his Q lets him stack it with ease.
Not to mention the whole Kit is cool and all but the people are the thing that is wrong about Yasuo are mostly a bunch of degenerates pieces of shit.
(I don't mean you though, I just mean some of others that are just complete assholes that give him the bad rep he has right now.)
And I know how retarded Yasuo with Warlords was that time, It was horrible and it made me think Keystones are a mistake in some of the few times it gets abused. cough Thunderlord's cough cough CotC cough
His counterplay is pretty much the player skill. You win against Yasuo if the player is bad, but you as a player can't do much to outplay him.
Want to harass? Oh look, his shield is up.
Want to chase? How convenient. There's enemy minions around for him to dash around to escape.
Want to use an ability? Yay, it got windwalled.
Got hit by a tornado under tower? Say your prayers because you getting buried 6ft under while your tower watches helplessly.
He wouldn't be so annoying to play against if he had some form of opening to prevents players from abusing his kit without a level of punishment, but his toxic kit prevents that. It is argued that he is supposed to have a weak laning phase, but his is slightly more superior than your average mid, giving him the edge to reach his monster late game potential.
I would remove his passive shield just because it's too much hidden power and allows players to play him recklessly. Also, fix the spaghetti code on his wall because it pretty much blocks everything; even targeted spells that are 'coded' as projectiles.
