Suggestion for new items for the underperforming assassins.

This is primarily in itemization.

First I'd like to suggest changing Void staff from total Magic resist to bonus magic resist. One of the issues is that standard mages (Syndra, Lux, Ryze, ect.) are still doing equal to, or more damage than assassins per rotation while offering faster rotations which means more total damage as well as offering AOE damage which significantly boosts their wave clear, siege, and teamfight potential. This would stop standard mages from one shotting squishies and put them in a position where you choose them for their AOE damage, Superior utility, and higher DPS than assassins.

Next is the change that would set assassins apart: A new sheen item/ LichBane rework.

After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) causes your champions damage to ignore 5% ( + 7% every 100 AP) Total Magic resist for 5 Seconds, This passive is initially locked and only becomes available if the champion using it has atleast 100 AP. Shred passive can not stack with multiple procs.

The item that this is attached to would be made Melee Only. This is so that the only champions that would/could use it are the assassins it's meant to be built on. Preferably I'd like it to be a Lichbane rework. This would mean there wouldn't have to be an additional item slot dedicated to this item and the assassins who are meant to use it already build lich as a core item as it is.

Ziggs who commonly uses it can get compensatory buffs to his Passive while someone like Leblanc doesn't use/need an item like this in the first place.

Next is the item would be the same for AD assassins, except, it would be made into its own sheen item with a damage component attached.

After using an ability, your next basic attack (on-hit) causes your champions damage to ignore 5% ( + 5% every 10 Lethality) Bonus armor for 5 Seconds, and deals (150% bonus AD) bonus Physical damage. Shred passive can not stack with multiple procs.

The actual stats of both the items and the passives can be changed however they need to be but the concept should stay the same.

I'd like to see Every AD assassin (Since those are the ones struggling it seems) get an item like Viktor's staff that allowed them to do different things. This would also give them a nice balance lever to alter incase a certain assassin get's out of hand then they could just nerf their item instead of actual items that would effect everyone who uses them.

you're not supposed to buff a whole class to deal with a few problematic overpowered champions, you should nerf (balance) those problematic champions instead.

Except the issue lies in a whole champion class as well: Fighters. In order to fix them riot would need to completely revert/rework all of the bruiser items/offensive items with defensive components in the AD itemization that they've made in order to balance out things again.

I've been here for a few years and even I know that just won't happen. So what's the best course that riot is likely to take? Buff the assassins. I'm just offering my suggestion on how to go about it without making things worse for assassins or breaking them into a horribly unbalanced state.

Well that would just be flat out worse than Lich Bane tho, at least for Fizz.. wouldnt it?

This is why I suggested a lich bane rework. Tune the item purely for the melee AP assassins while keeping the Lich bane effect and the assassins are golden. If there would be no lich bane effect then the passive shouldn't be classified as sheen so assassins end up building both items. Not the ideal situation but the idea is to give counterplay to assassins getting out stat'd by bruiser/tank items.

I see how you locked them to only melee, so basically you've thought of a way to let assassins get full %mpen, while mages only get bonus %mpen.

I feel like tanks would get more of a benefit from this than assassins lol, this change with some tank nerfs and its probably better than whats going on atm lol

Assassins aren't really being buffed by this change, its just mages being nerfed. The item is basically just voidstaff for assassins. The problem with assassins is that if they can kill their target easily, then they're overwhelming, if they can't, they're useless. There has to be something else for assassins to do :P

The idea is to remove the "Build a single defensive item to shutout an Assassin" meta. Assassins would still build void staff thus giving them access to more magic pen which would mean their single target damage would be more potent than mages but they'd still lack the DPS, AOE damage, and utility that most mages bring to the table.

Defensive items SHOULD mean you get to live longer but it shouldn't mean that you get to negate an assassins burst then counter burst them with nothing that the assassin can do.

I'm not saying it isn't a nerf, but if mages continue to do the same damage as assassins with the added benefits they get as "Mages" then assassins remain the same as they are now: A pointless sub par role. If there's a contrast between the 2 roles and defined strengths then assassins get by and mages deal less damage to base MR as the only trade off.

which in my point of view is totally balanced and fine. face the truth that assassins dont provide anything in a meta where 2 tanky fighters are constantly picked and stop blaming mages for it.
