The new version is more unique. That video you displayed for old Galio just looks like Maokai and Nunu in one. What is shown can be accomplished today through other champions.

I won't lie and say his old kit wasn't interesting. It was, it hit hard and he was decently tanky against mages with a good playmaking ult.

That being said, myself and many others prefer new Galio. His playrate skyrocketed, his winrate is consistently above 50%+ (currently a 53% in Gold+) and his lore/visuals have been brought up to par with others.

It's subjective though, I'm not going to bash other people for what they like. I'm kind of on the fence but I can see the pros/cons of both.

Neither? I don't personally enjoy his new kit but I have to acknowledge that it's more sensibly put together. His old kit was a mess. Sure, anybody who played old Galio lived for the perfect flash-ult. It was super satisfying. But so much else about his kit didn't work together. I used to play him as a support. If it were possible to combo his taunt with his dash, I probably still would. (Maybe it is and I just need to git gud?)

I only played the old Galio like ten times. He was fun.

But the new Galio is my boy. He’s a hero to protect and smash. I like that he can do a bunch of damage or he can build tanky and be an anti mage like no other. Nothing compares to his ultimate smash. I think ability wise and lore wise he better fits the story and game.

They are so different I cant compare them. The old was his own and the new is like a new champ that is also good.
