As you guys can see MasterYi is complete trash and he needs buffs because he doesn't do anything useful.

I've thought of some buffs but they all DON'T need to be applied

Passive: Ad ratio up to 65% from 50%

Q: Mana cost down to 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80 from 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110

W: if enemies attack you during meditate they receive 40% attack speed slow for 1 second.

E: New effect: damage is doubled when using Double Strike (passive) and now applies on Alpha Strike (Q)

R: Movement speed buff increased to 45% at all ranks from 25 / 35 / 45% and now grants 10% extra movement speed for each kill he gets with Highlander on.

Again not all these changes would go through because he would probably be a good champion for once but these are some ideas

The W buff is obnoxious and the ult buff would break him.

I like the R buff, the others seem annoying af. Perhaps we should try to make Yi's Q more interactive for squishies to fight? Considering they die in Q+auto+auto?

They are afraid to buff him because he's a pubstomper.

He would need changes that help him be viable in high elo without breaking him in low elo.

A champion should be able to have a 60% winrate or higher in low elo but if they don't have a high one in high elo then that means that players need to just get better.

So first off, let's wait for preseason's impact on Yi as some runes have incredible synergy with him (press the attack, lethal tempo). And If Yi needs anything, it's definitely not a mana issue or a damage issue. His R needs to be reverted to its previous iteration (aka cooldown lowered, base duration increased to 10s, duration amplification on kill or assist nerfed back to +4s), and you can potentially buff him on base armor (at lvl 18 it's lower than a bunch of adc's and mages which kinda sucks for a melee carry). That's basically it. Yi's kinda weak but you don't need much for him to be viable again. Reverting his R nerfs to a more viable state (thanks to lower cd, it's so insanely long though he depends so much on it, and increased base duration, because base duration is way too weak rn and fucks him up hard. The amplified duration buffs on kill/assist were useless and overkill, didn't make any sense too).

Yeah thats true apparently they changed his ult like that so he "wouldn't build bruiser" but idk it is super annoying

I just looked at those winrate stats and here are some important points.

  • Yi has a good winrate for games lasting 30 min or longer.

  • Yi has a steep learning curve. Players who just picked him up have a 5% lower winrate than players who have 50+ games played as Yi. 98% of people playing him in ranked have 50 games or less.

  • Yi's overall winrate has been improving in the past 2 patches.

What those stats makes me think is he's actually viable and has a lot of untapped potential with his current kit.

There is one change personally I really want though. Meditate shouldn't be interruptable. There would still be counterplay. It's called patience. Enemies should need some presence of mind instead of just mindlessly spamming skills when Yi isn't even attacking. Like, Yi has two modes. attack and defend. Currently, hard CC counters both of his modes. That actually makes no sense. Imagine if hard CC took Fizz or Vlad out of their invuln skills.

Also I would suggest slightly shifting his power curve because generally low elo games last longer so Yi's current power curve makes him stronger in low elo which is where players have more trouble playing against him. So he should be slightly stronger early/mid and slightly weaker late.

49.28% winrate 4.60% play rate 47.87% winrate 7.03% play rate

complete trash

By the way, this would get him at 55-60% winrate. Just reducing his Q mana cost would be fine if he needed buffs.
