Well, those Evelynn buffs look interesting (You guys got AD Eve back too, kinda)

She'll have an easier time slipping back into stealth and reposition with that Passive and R change and the CD refund really rewards good plays.

What's really interesting though is Whiplash's change to a total AD ratio. Meaning that item 3146 is actually a really viable strategy once again.

E giving AD is a nice return of AD evelynn players, duskblade/gunblade looks like possible options.

..but don't know if there's justification to go AD though since Q doesn't have AD scaling like old eve (for wave clear, it still did something if you went AD but new eve Q will do even less.)

If you do build AD, you're mostly just relying on E and E only.

Kinda disappointed in the E change, for two reasons.

The first is that Hextech Gunblade is a cancer upon this game and any change that makes it more viable for any champion is bad. Still waiting for the day when this terrible item is at the very least split into two different items, if not straight up removed.

My other disappointment with the change is from a philosophical standpoint, rather than a gameplay one - its sending a bad message. Riot made the correct choice in removing Eve's AD and Hybrid build paths in her rework. While this change won't likely completely reestablish either of those, it is in a symbolic manner giving in to the people who complained about the loss of AD Eve. I dread future reworks of hybrid champs where their alternate scalings are removed, and all the complaining we're going to hear about "But Eve got to have an AD ratio (even if its effectively not relevant aside from Gunblade)!"

The passive and ult changes look great though.

Typical boards people downvoting with the crowd before even reading what he has to say. What he said is completely true. And I agree, it's a toxic item in the game, even though I enjoy playing champs who build it (i.e Akali).

Well, AD Eve isn't back, because the E is still magic damage.

Hybrid Eve is now the goal, which is weird. They say they don't want a tank Evelynn, but if they make Gunblade her core item she's going to essentially become a drain tank assassin like Akali. And literally no one likes Akali. Akali is SO Hot doesn't even like Akali.

Just because it APPLIES magic damage, doesn't mean that her ad SCALING is negated. It scales off ad no matter what dmg it does. Essentially champions that DO ap dmg whilst BUILDING ad makes them very strong. Because #1 it makes it difficult for the enemy to build resists for both damage types (auto attacks and abilities) while all you have to do is build one damage type in your items. and #2 if she does want to build two different damage types, she can. And that makes her extremely flexible as per what types of unique passives you want. Now I'm not saying AD eve is going to work, but what I said above is true.

The issue is that Evelynn isn't exactly able to just stand around and auto attack people like she used to be. One of the main reasons AD Evelynn was so strong before was her ability to apply 2 on-hit effects immediately with her E, and then getting a burst of attack speed after. Now, Eve doesn't have many ways to weave autos into her kit at all (and her ultimate encourages her to keep a bit of distance between herself and her target anyway).

Yes, I agree with you on this. I think I replied to the wrong person hahahhaha.

AD eve totally isn't back, but gunblade will probably be useful once again, which is very nice.

Could this change make duskblade a decent buy too, or not?

Rebonack2 votes

This doesn't bring AD Eve back. Without the attack speed in her kit the old versatility will never be there. This is mostly to just make Gunblade feel like a less punishing buy despite being one of the best items for her.

And to the people saying they're glad Riot removed Eve's AD ratios: just wait until Riot deletes one of your favorite champions. Try to have a little bit of empathy.

Im an OG eve fan. You know nothing about being deleted.

Rip perma stealth, stun and 500 hp per kill.

Oh believe, me, I was around for OLD old Eve. Old Eve kept the general feel of Original Eve, but I felt like they removed most of the nuance from her kit. She went from a Skirmisher with a side of Assassin to a Diver with a side of Assassin. Now she's a melee Burst Mage with a side of Assassin.

Karma . Lost my empathy when the community didn't try to save the first champion officially deleted. It was the beginning of the end and players were too stupid to realize it. The community brought this pain upon themselves when they weren't vocal about that trash relaunch; only Karma mains fought for her...and were ignored because the playerbase was so small. This gave Riot reasons to continue thrashing other champion's kit without remorse because players didn't care enough.

Too late now.

First they came for Karma.

But I wasn't a Karma main, so I said nothing.

Buffs are good and all. But they're targeting the wrong stuff. Le sigh.

Malicious Metal1 votes

Maybe, just maybe, those are her intended weaknesses.

ACTI0NBASTARD2 votes

To be the only assassin in the game that struggles to engage and stick to her target without blowing her ult and protobelt? Sure. I get that they didn't want to overdo it with her release. But I still feel she has to jump through way too many hoops to do her job, unlike other assassins.

Malicious Metal1 votes

An assassin's job isn't to engage but to pick people off and flank. Which are some of Eve's strengths.

ACTI0NBASTARD1 votes

When an assassin goes to pick off a target they do what? Engage that specific target. Which is how I was using that.

Thunderneedle1 votes

You can't flank with this invisibility range. They spot you miles away. And if they don't your w still betrays you anyway.

Surprise anyone with this Eve. Rly, impress me, make a montage.

I could give heart attacks with old Eve, receiving "wow you scared me"'s in all chat.

Emelie Cauchemar2 votes

All this does is open her up to being balanced around the duskblade gunblade combo which in turn makes her garbage whenever those items are bad.

And I don't want to have to remove M.Pen Marks from my rune page just because it is in "efficiency" territory.

I want the choice to matter between AD Marks and M.Pen Marks.

O Fallen Scholar1 votes

They just made gunblade her core item with E change. How ridiculous is that? Build versatility btw.

Penns1 votes

Wait

She is opie now lel

Hovering Hentai1 votes

Gonna be capable of some great dragon steals now, really pleased with that ult change

Hexs Fortune1 votes

The big question is, can we get away with duskblade for that sweet burst passive, even though the lethality is wasted on her.

Xurreal1 votes

Put. It. Back. Too. AP.

Solidair31 votes

I think AP will still be stronger over all.

I played a bit with these buffs and AP feels better, too.

Granted runes reforged also helps.

Death by Glamour1 votes

it already is viable

just wish they would put attack speed back on her E, one of the major strengths of old eve was the flexibility of her builds

Linna Excel1 votes

Not sure I want the old AD evelynn back on this kit. Really not sure her being encouraged to get gunblade will be good for her in the long run.

This feels like riot's admitting one of the rework's main goals was a failure. They specifically didn't want her to go into AD builds anymore. Now she's slowly getting pushed back into hybrid.
