Playing Hard vs. Playing Well
People need to stop taking this game so seriously if they want to enjoy it. I know there's a classic argument about "winning is fun", but that means losing isn't fun for you, and that means you're doing it wrong. If you're only enjoying the game half the time, you're missing out and wasting a lot of time.
I never try at League. Ever. I don't try to lose, I don't try to win. I play in a way that's fun for me. The one time I tried, legitimately tried, was Season 4. I clawed my way all the way from Bronze V to Silver II. I took zero pride in it. I didn't feel accomplished, I felt exhausted.
Conversely, I'm currently Bronze IV. But I have fun. Wins, losses, it doesn't matter. I don't play nearly as often as I used to, but every time, I do, I enjoy myself. If I win, I won with a non-standard build and an off the wall play style that no one thought had a chance, and that's fun. If I lose, I got to pull off a lot of jukes and try new builds and combinations no one else would even have the stones to attempt, and that's fun.
Accept that League is a game and not a livelihood, and you'll stop wasting your time. I was top 10 in Kantou for win/loss in kendo my third year of high school. I probably could have gone pro. The reason I decided against it was how hard I was trying that year. Up until then, win or lose, kendo was just fun. Third year, though, it felt more like work. I felt this sense of upset gnawing at me whenever I'd lose and I hated that the art I once loved was doing that to me. I knew if I went pro, I'd be forgetting why I started doing it in the first place.
Please treat League the same way, so we can all have more fun together. m(_ _)m
