What hasn't been tried to make support more desirable to play?

What if removing them from wanting to stay only with the marksmen made it more enjoyable?

What if being at the mercy of if your marksmen is good or not makes a lot of people not want to play support.

What if you could focus more on mid and top lane instead if you think you will have better results in doing so and people actually though it was a good idea?

Why not free them up and make them into far more of a roaming class that benefits from assists which give exp and being near higher level allies gives passive EXP instead of protecting the class that is always entitled to being seen as mandatory?

What if doing these things exposed weaknesses of a class always seen as mandatory to the point where they were no longer always seen as mandatory but still optional?

What if you were to free the meta from the support + marksmen lane?

What if you were to remove the shared EXP increase meaning that sharing a lane for an extended period of time would likely result in the solo getting to level 6 before the duo got to level 5 meaning that there is a real tradeoff for the early game pressure?

What if being stuck as the marksmen's "wing man" is the reason why so many don't want to play support?

Here's the thing for the first idea. If you leave your adc alone, even when fed, for even a minute, they are going to die. Doesn't matter if they're ganked, push to hard, or just 1v1 someone, they will fucking die if left alone. I main support, and it happens every freaking time.

I'd say add some kind of buff to the sightstone, so that it would actually be a desired item to have. Heavens know that my team's support won't make it if it's not me supporting.

It depends. My favorite ADCs are the ones I know I can leave in lane and trust to not die. Sometimes I watch and I ping because I am scared, but the good ADCs will stay alive every time.

My =\ =\ =\ are the "ADCs" who I cannot leave alone. I can feed them 3-0 and walk just to ward river and they push and die. Or stand still and die. And die. die. then blame me of course. Idk the difference. I just chalk it up to knowledge of the lane. Some Silvers are great, some just don't understand the lane.

I like support.

I would like it more if, we leveled up equally with everyone (being level 11 to a level 15 is stupid).

Gold for real items would be nice. A "tank" support will either be building very slowly and die or just be awkward for a long time. A damage support has to go all in or again be awkward. It doesn't help that the alternate Goldincome items are used anymore. It would also be real nice if 90% of the community didn't jump on antisupport bandwagons all the time. Frostqueen, Redemption, Locket, Coin, Janna, Lulu, Ardent, Janna, etc. When they are a problem sure, but it sees some people just spam it for groupthink.

Lane issues are lane issues. Sometimes it sucks, sometimes it doesn't.

I think that is a pretty accurate sentiment, supports are almost always behind in both exp and gold, meaning they're behind in levels and items. One of the main challenges of a support is to still have and impact while behind.

I think the fact that the support is "behind" everyone else, makes it so the community then also feels that supports shouldn't be as impactful on a game. When something ends up being strong for supports for a while people flip out and call for nerfs, or call the main viable support champions cancerous and unfun to play against.

Honestly, most players in my ELO probably never look at level. At least they never talk about it when it matters.

Bard Roam you say?

Anyhow issue is that 2v1s are a real drag in league so it requires a huge overhaul to make this function, pretty much be redesigning the game from the ground up.

Or making the solo get a clear level advantage by 10 minutes to counteract their likely gold disadvantage.

Wouldn't that just make a lost lane that much more snowballed? exp is amped so each death hurts more, champions who cant 2v1 and endure for the exp will fall out of the meta, supports freely roam to what ever lane has the worst matchup and make it worse, might drag out the enemy support over to balance it with a 2v2 but there's plenty of bruisers who would crush a squishy support/midgame champion with little more then some reliable cc to set them up. even if the support moves over to match and help other lanes then your still at risk of a solo vs solo takeing a lead and running away so jungles become unviable if they cant impact lane phase early, as lanes get not only a solid gold lead but a now enhanced and better exp lead.

Currently when exp is shared each player gets half and then that half is increased by 30.4% Meaning that they get 65.2% of the exp a solo lane would get.

I am suggesting that the 30.4% increase be removed meaning that a level advantage be gained for the solo who is facing a duo. It is a tradeoff for generally getting less gold due to being more likely to be punished for trying to last hit.

The reasoning is to make a duo lane be a strategy to consider but not a strategy that is mandatory which is currently is. In other words make it have harsher down sides than it currently does. This also would have the added effect of making a jungler who constantly camps a lane and does not have success will actually be hurting said laner to a greater extent by farther reducing their EXP.

As for passive EXP catch up if support items were to grant 1 EXP a second per level advantage of nearby allies they would be far better able to keep within a couple levels of their team if they are sticking near their team. AKA Level 9 Karma is gaining 5 EXP a second due to being near her teams level 12 Zed and level 11 gragas.

Another thing to consider is that this will make a short laning phase result in lower level teams for a longer time. It might not be a huge effect but it would reward a team that stays in lane longer more woth higher levels overall. AKA longer games.

Ah, that's worlds different from just flooding the game with more exp. I see you have given this intelligent consideration. I applaud ya. I will have to ponder this for a bit, I still have some fear that if bot lane becomes unleashed and adcs are able to solo where ever they want and we see games become decided more off counter picks so then its a fiesta of lane swaps as folks are rushing to grab cs in lanes their counters not at.

Most low elo kids bitch and cry about being support because they just want kills and support is the only role who is supposed to mostly assist to the point that scrubs will die for a kill and claim worth to feed their bloodlust

MysterQ1 votes

Honestly, old Spellthiefs should have been many people's dream.

Ignore cs (boring). Focus completely on poking enemy champion (fun).

I am a support main. I also enjoy the support role, but it would be nice to get more gold for the work. Riot could come up with a way to get more gold into supports without Ancient Coin. All they would need is an algorithm that gave more gold for an assist to kill ratio. Example: If you have zero (0) kills and five (5) assists, you get more gold if you get another assist. If you have one (1) kill and five (5) assists you would get less gold for your next assist. If you have more than a set number of kills, then the algorithm could be reset to the current assist income mechanics.

As ADC you are at the mercy of your support and people still play it so clearly that's not an issue

OurLestrade1 votes

They need to make more supports like the Taric rework. He can be independent and look after himself but excels with others, so you don't feel like a worthless piece of crap if you're on your own but you're much more potent with allies. A lot of LOL is about power fantasy, and going around as a unicorn girl or Miku Hatsune who's completely defenceless isn't particularly satisfying for most people. There's a reason I spam Taric these days.

@thread Enchanters need to be focused on buffs instead of sustain and CC. Tank supports need built in waveclear (Braum Q travels through minions, Leona passive should be AoE and proc on her AA reset)

A support should not be "just a support" - supports should be WHERE a champion works best, not "their place". Sorakas heal could be turned into a mana infusion, her Q could get a little better ratio. Sonas W could be reworked to a HoT and her Q could be turned into a skillshot (and given better base and scaling). Lulu could have her shield turned into an on-hit buff. Karma could have her shield turned into a bomb like Sions shield (where if you dont break it, it can actually do damage). Bard is fine as he is.

Riot just needs to make "supports" real champions instead of treating them like second class citizens.
