Why does Lee Sin's ult still stun you briefly before he kicks? Why can't it mini-snare you instead?

darkdill··136 votes·9,450 views

It bothers me to no end that when Lee's about to kick you, you can't even try to reflex-shield yourself to block the damage. Sure, you shouldn't be able to reposition yourself before it hits (that'd make it almost useless), but why can't you at least try to self-shield?

Guess it's just another annoyance in dealing with a Lee Sin...

Lee's ult shouldn't stun/snare at all.

It SHOULD work the way Syndra's E works, as a knockback with no extra/bonus disabling power attached... it's meant to be skill based knock back but it is not, it is absurdly frontloaded with hidden power that Riot claims to hate.

What is dumb about it too, is that if you attempt to ult someone as Lee Sin, you will stun them immediately, and if they die before the cast time is complete and it would deal damage and knock them back, he gets a full reset of his ultimate.

Like what kind of logic is that.

Battlecast Sona4 votes

what's really dumb is the kick flash mechanic, honestly. Take that out and his kick becomes waaaaaaaaay more balanced. You should have to flash first, none of the "I'm gonna push R on this target and then flash and there's basically no response possible whatsoever aside from flashing BEFORE my ult goes off"

Yosuke Apperu3 votes

That's part of offensive buffering that they had a thread about not long ago. It's a game mechanic not a lee sin specific one.

Battlecast Sona4 votes

the actual input working is not what I have a problem with (ult flashing works because of input buffering yadda yadda) the problem I have is that when LEE flashes, you cannot flash, meaning no counterplay (this is due to the root on the ability preventing movement spells). That's what I have a problem with, not input buffering itself.

Yeah the little delay before you kick is annoying but it does provide with some counterparts because u can flash and he will kick u the otherway the little stun is a brief movement where u can flash or something

junglerboy167 votes

Can't flash while stunned, whenever you see the pros flash a lee ult and screw it up, they flash the split second before the stun starts.

Yeah but it's super telegraphed I've never played against a leesin that's kicked me into a temporary before cause I flash as soon as they q onto me

Battlecast Sona10 votes

then they ult flash you and you can't respond unless you see it coming and flash it immediately, leaving Lee's kick still up.

Keevalroy25 votes

They only hate hidden power if they don't like the champion it's associated with.

Chaotic Reks2 votes

same thing should happen to Blitzcrank hook, make it JUST a pull

Battlecast Sona3 votes

it is just a pull. Blitz just has a knockup on his kit - the only time you're "stunned" is while you're moving.

ChubbsRus2 votes

No your not stunned while being pulled. Ezreal can E out of it. You can also qss it while being pulled.

ChromeFluxx3 votes

you are stunned the moment it hits you and starts dragging. ezreal can only e out of it because of the way his channel relates to his actual blink. if the channel goes off and in the animation he gets hit the code still says that he should blink to the decided location. you can qss it while being pulled but what does that do. all you can do is cast self shields or heals. i dont even think skillshots like lee's q could save you because you're still gonna get pulled and e'd before you can flash out. because of the way blitz's e is its impossible with low ping and a decent blitzcrank player to flash out once you've hit your q.

darkmatchwaldo3 votes

Not necessarily, the hook is also a knockup. Yasuo can ult off the hook alone.

Retillin5 votes

"Displacement". Yas can ult off any forced movement, not just knock ups.

Xiyador4 votes

I learned that only recently, when I discovered that things like a thresh flay or a vayne condemn can allow yasuo to enable his ult

junglerboy162 votes

The hook is a pull, pulls are classified as "displacement abilities", Yasuo can ult off of any allied displacement ability (i.e. knockup, knockback, pull, or suspension).

Never once thought so. Never once had proof of it. If Riot isn't nerfing him, then they have data that suggests he is fine where he is. Just because you hate him and can't deal with him doesn't mean that he deserves changes.

Riot actually tried changing Lee a long time ago but didn't go through with changes, multiple times, due to community opinion. A lot of people complained and raged, so Riot listened to them. Riot has already stated they usually balance around opinions and not just based on what is right balance wise. It's why sometimes strong champions will receive buffs or champions not doing so well will receive nerfs.

Which champion that "wasn't doing so well" received nerfs? How about one that was buffed that "didn't need it"?

SH Azykan8 votes

Lux got buffed when she was in a perfectly fine state. She had a decent pick rate and had a good winrate, and she was still buffed.

I cant think of any that got nerfed that was in a weak state (some will say Evelynn, but Evelynn was really strong in the hands of people who actually used her a lot)

It has to stun or else, it runs the risk of it being possible to be dodged.

TurquoiseYoshi11 votes

If it snares instead, then it disables movement and movement spells, but allows things like shields, burst, or counters (Jax, Fiora).

Drugoth1 votes

This is 100% true, indluding the fact that the cast time of this ultimate and people's reaction time into consideration. It works the same as driving the car and then applying the brakes. It would basically require anticipation in order to get a shield/counter off.

If you change it to a snare it means only a select few champs would be able to negate/escape (Shaco/Fiora/Jax for examples) it and it would take a high amount of skill to do so. So balanced in my opinion, removes some of the invisible power and enabling a slight>large amount of counterplay making it a more healthy ability all together.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

its not a snare is suppresses the target like malz ult

Uiraya23 votes

How dare the opponent facing Lee Sin be able to make a single decision

When you have THAT much chase potential coupled with THAT much escape potential, every duel with every Lee Sin is determined almost solely by the skill of the Lee Sin player.

Lee Sin is -always- going to be a problem as long as he's allowed to make every choice in any engagement. He needs to mess up multiple times to be in danger of dying, which is ludicrous.

Ulquiorra99510 votes

A hundred times this. Playing against good Lee doesn't feel like playing against a balanced champion in a human vs. human game. It feels like playing against a boss in a single player game - either you fight him on his terms, when he has advantage or don't fight him at all.
