Is it just me, or is Anivia extremely poor in the current meta.

Everyone can out sustain her, Assassins and resource-less champions rule, not to mention how immobile she is in the League of Mobility, and practically everyone has a dash or jump that negates her wall.

I liked Anivia in Season4 enough to get her blackfrost skin but now I wish I had refunds left because Athene and mana regen nerfs in general plus mid lane meta has just ruined the experience of playing her for me.

It's just you. Anivia is stronger now than she's been since season 2.

Edit: also, if you're building mana regen on anivia, you're wrong. seraphs+roa is the only viable option as far as im concerned.

Not sure if Trundle or not?

Without mana regen you have no ult, without ult you have no Anivia RoA makes sense but by the time you've completed it the enemy mid laner has taken your tower and roamed everywhere.

that's not even remotely true. plat anivia main, got there on her wings, played her for 3 seasons now. mana regen is trash on her this season. roa is far and away your best rush item, always has been. your lane phase is amazingly strong and you shouldn't lose vs anyone but ahri most of the time, and she should be banned. catalyst is stronger as a laning item than chalice, not even close.

Alright I'll try it out for myself thanks for the advice. My initial aggressive response to your comment was uncalled for, It's just that I found enough success with Archangels and Athene's build.

Also I just hate the mana regen nerfs with an ungodly passion.

Thats weird I sorta main anivia too and i love laning against ahri. Shes one of the easy matchups for me.

Also, you are supposed to rush roa. But you need a mana regwn item along with it. You simply run out of mana too fast without two mana itema.

I hate tear because it gives no cdr and weakens your early game even further with roa.

I usually rush a chalice or fiendish codex, then go for roa.

it's all about the ahri. If she plays the lane right, there's nothing you can ever do to her. Her Q move speed lets her easily dodge your Qs pre 6, and her ult just gives her nutso outplay potential on you at that point. Also lets her easily get out of your ult.

That means that if you walk up to E>R her at level 6 in the middle of the lane, she can simply R>Q>W>R>R>ignite, probably doesn even need the E, and kill you. Since she got out of your ult, you'll only get one E off. If you try to Q her, she can easily dodge it with R. The CD between her R actives is too low to land a q on her during that interval. You do eventually outscale her in teamfights, and if she DOESN'T use her ult right, you'll shit on her. She is very squishy. But if she plays it right, she's about the only champ in the game capable of beating you the majority of lane phases.

Also, the key to using double mana items are homeguard boots. Double mana gives you 125 more AP than roa+grail, plenty of mana in mid-late, and sufficient mana early as long as you manage it properly.

Also, you don't benefit that highly from cdr. a codex is not worth it as a rush, not even a little bit.

You can always just wall her mid ult and cancel the dash. Its quite easy. Also you shouldnt exactly be getting hit by the charm because if ahe automatically ults your e and ult you can dodge it and wall off her second dash, so shell have one left. She cant instaburst u without a good amount of ap. Her ap scalings are pretty low. Also you have egg.

And i like mana regen because i dont find myself SPAMMING the ult. I use it for trades and minion clearing. By the time you need to use the ult again, you would have regened atleast half of the mana you used.

Flat mana is only worth it if you plan to use ur ult for long periods of time

Darkwind1 votes

Flat mana is worth it if you plan to use your ult in bursts exclusively, if you want a stronger late game, if you want to leave your ult on a long time in a teamfight, or if you can zone your lane opponent. Basically, that means all the time, at least in my view. Flat mana does not give you as much of an ability to use your ult as roa+grail over a long period of time. But you shouldn't need more than what tear+catalyst gives you, because tear+catalyst gives you such a retardedly stronger burst. I never have understood how people can stand to give up 250(!) burst on Q+E just to be more comfortable in the amount of mana they have, when using it carefully and basing with homeguards would still give them more than enough.

CDR m8. And costs less, with only ~50 less ap. More ult repositioning, walls, q, and e.

It's a matter of preference. You like being a stationary burst mage with small bursts. I like moving around and throwing shit everywhere We're done crowding this thread lel

125*

80(roa)+145(aa)=225(x1.3)(x1.05)(x1.08)=332 80(roa)+60(grail)=140(x1.3)(x1.05)(x1.08)=206

I never said i dont get roa.. I said i get morello and roa. Not tear

Darkwind1 votes

oh god.... why would you even get morello? What I thought you did was grail+roa, which gives MUCH more regen than morello+roa, not to mention its passive and mr. I can at least understand why someone would make that decision, even if I strongly disagree with it. Morello only gives 4 mana/sec (at level 18). Trash. That's nothing compared to 75 initial mana cost and 60 per second. At least grail will give you up to 9.5 mana/second, that's an amount you can actually notice.

Anyway, even with morello+roa, you're looking at

my build: 80(roa)+145(aa)=225(x1.3)(x1.05)(x1.08)=332 yours: 80(roa)+80(morello)=160(x1.3)(x1.05)(x1.08)=236

which is 96, still a LOT more than 50.

Lol morello is so superior to grail right now its not even funny. It gives double the base regen, and math has already proved that grail is ineffective until youre at 50 percent missing mana

Darkwind1 votes

Here, math: Morello mana regen: 19.6(@lvl18) Grail mana regen: 9.8 (@lvl18, 1850/1850 mana (base ~1200+650 roa) Crossover: 490 missing mana. (.02*490=9.8, 9.8+9.8=19.6)

So, if you're lower than 3/4 mana, grail+roa is much better. Again, not even mentioning the 20% mana restore on kill or assist.

"But you won't be level 18 the whole game!"

Okay, let's do this again at level 9.

Morello mana regen: 11.4 Gail mana regen: 5.7 Crossover: 285 missing mana. (out of 1153 mana; 703 base+450 roa with 0 stacks).

Again, if you're lower than 3/4 mana, grail is better.

In summary, without roa, yeah, morellos is better. With Roa, grail>morello every time.

Same thing for me. I got the blackfrost skin as well because she was pretty decent, but she has been ruined now.

Kratos2631 votes

Either try random things with her in hope of finding something cool she could do, or wait and see if they decide to buff or rework her a bit.

For my part, I'd like to try some kind of tanknivia top with at least liandry's, though i'm not sure how far this could go.

I do feel that Anivia does need help mainly in the lower mana cost, but I wouldn't say she's useless. She actually can handle a lot of the mobile assassins in the mid lane, like Zed...Zed can't really do much to her honestly. With most cases, once Anivia gets to level 6, as long as she didn't super feed the lane opponent, she generally will win against those mobile assassins.

As far as the Athenes/Mana Regen nerfs. I never liked Athenes on Anivia, I'm probably like the only Anivia player that would never get that item on her...I feel that for it's cost, you could get so much more out of other items. I always go Tear into RoA which honestly does a lot more for her in the end and gives her a stronger late game.

A lot of her match ups now is just knowing when to use your Q since everyone has mobility now. I'll agree on the wall being mostly useless though, that really does need some help on it.

Darkwind1 votes

Tbh as long as you play defensively, you even win pre 6 vs assassins. as you say, it's all about using Q at the tight time.

Wall is still not useless, just has to be used properly. i don't even understand why people say that, it's probably top 3-4 most powerful non-ult skills in the game.

I agree with you on Athene. I've never liked it AT ALL, it was a necessary evil on a lot of champs, but still less than ideal. On anivia I have never considered it a good item, although it was a viable option last season.

Sirsir1 votes

Yeah shes very very VERYYYY iffy in the current meta. But the ability to ER someone properly helps make up for it.

...I wonder if Ludens will be used on her...
