You shouldn't have to memorize "behind the scenes" mechanics to play well.

What i mean is, anyone who plays tristana for any amount of time knows that her 'jump' really isnt a jump and she can be stopped by ground items so to play her well you have to memorize 'hidden mechanics'

Another example would be Ahri ult compared to shaco 'teleport' same animated distance, however shaco can make it over walls that ahri can not.

I have to memorize things like what the game is doing on the 'back end' to make wards go where I want them to, I have to memorize which walls I can flash over, even when the 'distance' indicator shows that I will be inside the wall instead of over.

side note, am I dashing through walls? or over them? if im not going over, how does trynd get 'over/through' walls?

I know that these examples are kind of weak, there are a number of other examples i could use but you get the idea.

Long and short of it is, I tend to shy away from champs with these kind of misleading abilities.

I think tristana rocket jump is one of the best example. It's a complete lie, she is not jumping but rather dashing, and that dash can be stopped by damn near every linear ability in the game. Thresh is hooking "under her" but somehow lands it. (same with an Ahri Charm, or a zed q hits her even though they are throwing it in a straight line, and she shows above them in the air.) some might argue that he is hooking up to her, but then he ought to be able to hook up to her over a minion wave, which we all know doesn't happen.

I just feel we should be able to take an abilities description at face value, and not have so much guess work involved.

thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the reason Trist is where her shadow is on the ground and not where it shows her on the screen when she jumps, she only looks higher up on the screen because she is in the air but the hit box is still relative to where she would be aka the shadow on the ground. Which means if you hook where the shadow is on the ground since it's a projectile it makes since that it would hit her.

It's not hard really. Game knowledge and knowing that separates you from the bad players. Just don't forget "behind the scenes" mechanics and you'll be fine.
