Question For Bronze Players

Do you think that its possible to have the skill level of a Bronze player, but have the game knowledge of a Platinum+ player and still be stuck in Bronze?

I think it is quite possible to have game knowledge but lack the ability to apply that knowledge quickly when it is required. We see it all the time in kids that test poorly.

That's only because 1 test is a very small sample size. If you grind games and consistently apply your """Plat+""" game knowledge you will eventually get to Plat.

Eh, there are kids that consistently test poorly but can turn in flawless homework.

I don't know if we can "rank" game knowledge. You can't claim a person that has played only one champion, one role all the way up to platinum has the same game knowledge as someone that climbed to platinum playing 20+ champions in all five roles. There's a ridiculous amount of game knowledge involved in League.

If you havew good game knowledge you know how to apply this knowledge. The scenario you described should make it obvious that limited game knowledge can easily be turned into Elo, since the person with less game knowledge managed to climb as high as someone with more game knowledge (Notice that I said "more" and not "better"). If your game knowledge is good, you can spam no skill champions like Janna (no disrespect for Janna players intended) and easily climb your way up. I'm a firm believer that your rank represents your game knowledge. Being skilled at the game is just for youtubers and such so the montages look fancy. I for one am stuck in high Platinum because I have no idea what a good initiate is. This makes me suicide quite often, and it has nothing to do with my skill. Players in all brackets can last hit and trade, they just lack the knowledge to decide what's an advantageous trade and what's not.

Game knowledge is the main reason they're in bronze, not mechanical skill level.

Yeah this is what I find to be true as well, if you have Platinum game knowledge it would be literally impossible to stay in Bronze.

In Bronze you literally don't need a team, you can win with AD JG Soraka and have your teammates go 0/10 in lane

Potentially. There may be other factors that would prevent them from advancing. One example would be trying to play a high mechanics champion with bronze level skill despite plat level knowledge (so like Yasuo or something) instead of a simple mechanic champion that allows more room to focus on using plat knowledge.

Though in my experience, bronze players aren't horrible mechanically. Rather they (or we cause I am still bronze 1) have poor decision/macro play understanding.

Just last night I ended up playing with an overly aggressive Nami who would ult without anyone near enough to follow up. I also made the mistake of following her ult a few times, leading to my death because we both underestimated how many enemies there were (it really was a dumb decision of mine to follow).

or we just don't care enough to play hard core ish like I play league cause its fun I don't care for rank at all, (all this rank shameing is messed up) but I play other games where my focus is all on that like destiny and guild wars

I had a flex game with a plat player he is plat in solo/duo but in flex hes bronze and he just cant seem to carry at all he had the skill level of a bronze yet he was plat

He probably just didn't try as hard or didn't grind enough games. I'm not a very good player myself but manage consistently to find my way back to plat with relative ease every season on all my accounts, like every Plat player in my friend's list. If you're Plat level at ANYTHING you will get Plat sooner or later, no matter what.

looking through his history found that hes got to be an ebay account

and I had a plat account in s3 but stopped playing for a year and when I came back I found out that my account was hacked it fell to silver and I just didn't want it anymore it had chat bans and other restrictions. so I hopped on my lets try sht account and just havnt had the motivation at all to climb I find the bronze community to be more friendly and less toxic than the higher community

I am not insecure, but for example, it's like saying I am right about this because I'm x years old. Maybe they are right or maybe they are wrong, however without a supporting argument it makes this answer less valid is all I meant. I would have liked to read his actual reasoning.

Yeah, At my schools ULoL club meetings there's this guy that has every champs scaling memorized, Knows when to engage and who to focus, but has horrible mechanics out side of farming (which..isnt really a mechanic). Like can't even land a point and click. since he can't make it past B4 he is now a coach for the top division team.

You are forgetting the 3rd item. Knowledge, skill (mechanics), DECISION MAKING. The last one is the biggest. You see Pros make decision mistakes all the time for all of the knowledge and skill that they have. Gotta know when and how to use that knowledge and skill, otherwise it doesn't matter.

Skill and Knowledge are two separate things so yes, a bronze can have the understanding of a Plat+ while stuck there. Everyone has their own personal skill ceiling, you just need to work at it until it just clicks.

I'm not sure. Although Ravenhale makes a good point. Every time I think I get to a spot where my game knowledge is good I play norms with my Plat/Diamond/Gold's and realize how much I don't know. I'm playing an easy mechanical champ in the support role and having a hard time climbing out. But I like the game and I'm tenacious, I figure I will get there in time.

I think it's possible in some cases, but I also think that the people who claim they're bronze with plat game knowledge are full of shit.

It actually is. Mechanics are what are needed to win. A player with shit mechanics is never going to escape.

Proof? I've made diamond players go "Damn" with my shot calling. I'm wrong about a trap/baron/drake/bait/weakness/teamfight/gank/whatever (not Herald, true. But nobody but a Riven or a 8th hunt Kindred even remembers Herald exists) about once per match. Hundreds of these happen per match, and I'm wrong, on average, once in a match. Why am I still in Bronze? I haven't spent the time grinding to get out, and I lack the mechanical skill to escape.

Besides. Absolute shit luck is also a thing. Enough trolls in a row will make anyone stop playing ranked.
