Destroy Wind Wall by standing in it ?

Like Rek'Sai tunnels, I think it would be cool if we could destroy Yasuo's Wind Wall by standing in it. Or better yet, make its duration go by twice as quickly. That way the ability would have a little more counterplay. Supports could stand on it while trying to CC him so their Marksmen can attack him freely.

I have a better idea, just make Yasuo destroy it himself if he stands in it, since if he does he will block all incoming damage from any side which is of course stupid as fuck and should have been hotfixed years ago ...

let me blow it out of the way by spamming sion quotes.

Yasuo's windwall is easily 60% of his power budget.

If it could be destroyed by just standing in it, he would become nearly unplayable.

His dancing around the Windwall to duel ranged champions would become impossible.

The wall would also become a dead spell in late game, where a front liner can just sit on the wall to destroy it.

SmileInABox1 votes

Good, his power budget shouldn't revolve around an ability that COMPLETELY negates an entire class of champs (yes, I'm a salty ADC main.) It also gives him both a good early game and a good late game, and just gives him more safety than he deserves with two forms of CC and a passive shield that you can easily proc twice in a fight. I think that Windwall causes most of his problems, and needs to get fucked up.

Bârd3 votes

Ok, fine.

The thing is, you have to realize that Yasuo is actually pretty well balanced right now (not necessarily fun to fight, but not at all overpowered).

If they were to do a nerf this severe for no reason other than "It's annoying", they would have to do compensation buffs that are just as significant.

Things like increasing his passive shield duration to 5 seconds, reducing the cool down of windwall to 10 seconds, reducing his per target dash cool down to 6 seconds at all ranks, letting him retain Q stacks when he ults, making his Q apply on hit effects to ALL units hit instead of just the first one, buffing his base stats to stupid levels... you get the idea.

Of course, only one or two of these (or equal level) buffs would occur, but I'm pretty sure it would be best to just let the wall be.

Kyovulpes1 votes

Where is the balance with this he gets 60% crit and on his ult 50% armor pen item 3046 if it crits. Literally makes the lane feast or famine to anyone who's not a duelist. And I haven't even counted the other items he can get which make him not only the worst to deal with. The wall adds insult to injury cause you have to walk around it setting up people to be in reallly bad positions or disengage. Both of those are annoying because 1. it starts from his character model meaning it can be totally reactive instead of proactive. And 2. Doesn't stop him and his team from reengaging. It needs some work along with the damage.

Bârd1 votes

K. I'd appreciate it if you would learn to use the enter key.

It's much easier to read lines than it is to read a wall.

Also, it is easier to extract meaning from this wall if you make coherent points instead of just rattling off random sentences about Yasuo.

Anyways...

Yasuo gets double crit to prevent him from building Tank. If he could build like Irelia but still be effective, you can bet your ass he would (remember when you could build Sunfire and Iceborne on assassins to become a god? Tank Yasuo would be worse than that).

Yasuo gets armor penetration because his items are pretty well defined. He needs two crit items (usually IE and a Zeal item of the week) and boots. Seeing as he is a melee carry and is VERY squishy, a GA is a must. This leaves Yasuo with two item slots that he can really work with.

He needs to get a lot of flat AD out of these, since all the crit in the world doesn't mean shit if Yasuo is hitting people with a wet noodle. He also needs lifesteal, obviously. So, one of his items will have to be a BT, Scimitar, or Maw.

If his LAST inventory slot always had to give him armor pen, his build path would have zero variation. Because he has armor pen innately, he is free to use that last slot for a situational item (currently, Frozen Mallet is most popular).

Yasuo IS Feast or Famine, but that's not really a problem. He is a hyper carry who is either an unstoppable god of death riding on wind, or he is a b5 12 year old named x_X_EDGELORD99_X_x trying to get clips for his montage.

He is hard to deal with when ahead, and pretty bad when behind. This is fine. When he is feasting, a good Yasuo can carry his team to victory. The famine, however, is the good part. At any point, a game can go irredeemably bad for a Yasuo. If Yasuo falls behind and doesn't get back online FAST, it's all over for him. So, this is most of his counterplay; take advantage of his 0 defensive mobility and squishy nature and brutally kill him over and over again in the early game.

As for windwall being annoying... yeah. It is.

So is Teemo.

The thing is, look at what Windwall does. It gives Yasuo 4 seconds of relative safety on a cool down of 24-18 seconds. For a champion that doesn't build CDR, that is huge. To give you an Idea of how long this is, if Yasuo burns windwall in mid, a support can roam all the way from bot lane to gank, and he will STILL have a pretty good window to kill Yasuo before windwall is up again.

Sorry about that I'll try to be more reasonable with my ranting with the wall of text.

Right about now a build like item 3046 item 3031 item 3022 starting as core items is STILL crazy viable on him. Fevor of battle/Warlords right now being very weird/broken state, respectively of course, makes it so that he's gonna out-sustain you while still clipping you with really really good damage. The fact that he gets so much value on item 3046 alone speaks to how over-loaded his kit is.

So him seeming "squishy" really doesn't matter since most of the time their will be no squishy he can't trade with and to a certain degree, no tank he can't really make useless since half of the time the 50% armor pen will invalidate them in lane if he decides to go. His worst match ups happen to be juggernauts/divers, usually, these tend to be the lane bully. That leaves multiple "classes" who have to suffer through the feast or famine type of lane pretty annoying. Even going even with him leaves him to just stat check his opponent which, again usually, leaves whoever isn't a tank (who is gonna build a shit ton of armor anyway) in a very bad predicament. The worse part is there is still 4 more people on his team.

Now on to Windwall

While Windwall tends to have a very long CD, it gives JUST enough time to properly disengage or deny any type action going on. In lane that's 4 seconds too long and in team fights it's JUST enough time to make sure the fight goes his way. Honestly I don't know why people think that's way too long on a skill when in reality that's a gonna be up every time a wave comes up. Shit the minions have a longer cool down time to spawn to put it in perspective so honestly it's not all that long esp when it is denying things like CS and damage. He has enough mobility to dodge skill shots so that leaves you with P'n'c abilities. And even then it leaves you with such a limited cast you have to play with. Let's not forget the Zoning potential with his Q, which if he is hitting targets, leaves him with a 10 second-holding knock up skill shot, which can also crit, on a 2.66 cool down. Fun times engaging on that.

I'm not gonna talk about the rest of his kit. To be quite fair if Yasuo was just a bruiser without the crazy damage I would be fine. The versatility on his kit would still make him a crazy threat. It's really only the damage part that I have a problem with. Might as well throw a true damage sticker on it cause with full damage that's where it goes and as tank-esk, juggernaut, bruiser, w/e you decide to call it, also still has a lot of damage so something needs to go IMO.

And also isn't everyone crap when they're behind (besides tanks of course.)? Pretty minute point to try to bring up otherwise just saying. But to be fair he's still a great split pusher even from behind so....

I still thinks it should have like 3hp. Losing 1 hp per projectile deflected, or 3 at once if hit by an ult.

That would make the ability pretty useless in most situations outside of 1v1.

IcyPepper3 votes

Isn't he supposed to be a duelist? What is his identity anyway? o.O

Can't his Q knock up multiple targets anyway?

Milodic Mellodi1 votes

He's supposed to be a Slayer, someone who has high mobility and DoT but low defense and utility (at least that's what I think it is). His main goal is to be able to Ult as many targets as possible and shred them down with the Armor Pen. he gets from his Ult, so he's most effective when facing the whole enemy team (or killing singular targets, but that's a waste of his Ult post!LP in a lot of cases).

Venomar5 votes

He is supposed to be

I think

He's not_supposed_ to be a duelist, or whatever a slayer is. Any Yasuo would lose hands down to an equal skilled Fiora or Riven outside of a minion wave. His outplay with E/Minions/WW is what enables him to duel people. He's supposed to be a late game Melee AD with good teamfight potential but has turned into a lane bully and snowball machine becuase of his kit and mastery synergies.

That's what's up with the E changes, taking power from early game and back loading it into late game to try and get him back to a more linear power curve rather than a huge spike.

And I wouldnt call his WW, 15 seconds of 50% ARP, first hit shield, and constant knock ups with a cheeky "knock you up for and extra second right before you hit the ground" ult "low defense and utility" he's got medium-low defense (per player) and medium utility at worst, that's not even counting all his hidden powers like animation canceling his Tornado and free tower ults and the like.

Leetri1 votes

A "Slayer" is basically an assassin, although it's not limited to the Zed type of assassins. It's more that a Slayer is a champion who goes for picks rather than straight up fighting. For example Xerath and Malzahar are secondary Slayers. Most Slayers are assassins though. Yasuo is primarily a Fighter though, which is a more durable Assassin with less reliable mobility.

Automated Riven1 votes

He loses pretty hard to riven but he does outscale her late game. But that also depends on builds. squishy riven vs squishy yas , the yas gets oneshot through his shield.

I Q1 votes

Sure he is a duelist, but he is also meant to be useful in teamfights. Lets say you throw your windwall in a teamfight after this change, you will literally lose your wall in 1 second because 2.5AS is pretty easy to get these days. Lucian would also basically oneshot the damn thing.

Bârd1 votes

Yasuo is a light carry.

They are very agile and does obscene amounts of damage, but are also very fragile and have to put themselves in harms way.

Yasuo Fiora Riven are the best examples.

As a general rule, they are better at dueling than they are in team fights, but they are not helpless in teamfights so long as they don't take too much fire.

Chaos6891 votes

This is the problem: You aren't QQing, but many people do who have even less knwoledge than that. Yasuo isn't broken or OP; he has a 50% WR and many counters. Peopel are just pickign a champ to hate because he's played in about 10% of games.

No as in ranged minions would decimate it instantly in lane meaning he could never use it in trades as blocking your skillshot vs the minions autos would be completely luck. Multi hit ults would laugh at it as it would die in one hit. I get that you guys want nerfs but you can't just say cut his legs off then tell him to run faster than you.

Bârd2 votes

Do you really want that?

That shit would die instantly.

item 3085 exists.

So, they would have to buff Yasuo to compensate for that.

Do you really want to live in a world with Windwall on a 7 second cool down?

maybe not that low, imagine a mf or Lucian ult... maybe give it health like tibers. that way it'll still do the job early on in 1v1 and such, but won't be a free way to remove ranged champs for half the team fight

TheSequelsRBad3 votes

I could see that, they would want to increase the duration to make it fair, but you can destroy it.

I think that would be a good change.

TheMinez2 votes

Standing on it should at least create a gap for your allies to shoot through, depending on your hitbox. That would make it able to be counterbuilt within reason with meaningful tradeoffs. (The meaningful tradeoffs being that if you buy like an elixer of iron you are giving up on the other 2 elixers and are easier to hit because of the larger hitbox. And then you have these guys : Zac Chogath Lulu Nautilus Gragas Sion Shyvana Malphite Blitzcrank who could make a hole in the wall wide enough for a Nami ult.)

Or, what if a champion walking through windwall opens up a hole in it that projectiles can go through

I think it'd be also really neat if yas himself walk through his wind wall- it destroys the wall, but he is granted his passive shield.

Its just to prevent him doing ring-around-the-rosey while giving a compensation. like lands a 3'd q under turret, windwall then ults, goes through his wall and gives him a shield.

it also gives him a small tool against other Melees.

Chaos6891 votes

SO jsut to prevent him from [playing like a skilled yasuo player?] It's part of being good at Yasuo to play AROUND the wall, not "oh lets make him binary and requiring no skill liek we did with rengar"

AmonTheFallen1 votes

That mechanic is really unhealthy. Also sometimes your character is standing in front of the wall but her autos are still blocked. Imo Braum E and Yasuo W are one of the most retarded mechanics. Only recently overdone by the Camille ult which takes the cake in OP department.

I hate the Yasuo W in front of tower and although you are Orianna or Lux you cant clear the wave because he Wd and takes the tower in the meantime. If you go beoynd his windwall he kills you. The W basically takes away ranged advantage and coupled with his ridiculous DPS and lifesteal and tankyness and mobility its beyond broken.

Chaos6891 votes

Guess what else is unhealthy? Soraka healing, Braum shield, Riven CC, Khazix ult...

SlaktarTasken1 votes

Yes! Hyes! Hyyyyyyyyuuuyeeees! Add a new passive to Yasuo's windwall and call it: Breaking wind. :^)

Euthenaasia1 votes

Or how about Yasuo's BASIC ability windwall can no longer deflect ultimate abilities. I can recall a blue saying once upon a time that by no means does Riot ever want outplaying an ultimate ability to ever feel trivial. Pressing W is very trivial. Fix the mindblowingly stupid mechanic.
