Jbels4 votesI'll always be of the opinion that just because 3 or 4 tanks are tier zero doesn't mean that it's a tank meta, it just means 4 out of the large roster of tanks are tier zero. Another thing, Jarvan builds cleaver and Titanic, and counts more as a fighter than as a tank. Same deal with Gnar, he plays more like a DPS for most of the game, but for the rest of the game he plays like a giant bruiser with way too much CC to go with his damage (Which is fine because of the way he's designed.)
Also, support tanks aren't really the tradtional tanks people think of when they think of "oh my god, fuck tanks why do they even exist?". And Rakan isn't really a tank.

ZT Xperimentor2 votesCamille isn't a tank either, she's a pseudo-assassin like yasou & riven. Jax is a bruiser, both before and after his rework. Jayce is a melee marksmen, like the physical counterpart to nidalee or elise being melee mages.
Just because someone builds tanky, doesn't make them a tank. For an example, you could build kayle for dps, but that doesn't make her a marksman.

Look at his most recent LCS performance in the past weeks.
People NEED high damage dealers in the mid lane and the best top laners consist of Renekton, Kled, Shen, Jarvan, Cho'Gath, Mao'Kai... champions that do well in lane and start plays. After the nerfs to his Q he is no longer played...
Galio was played to huge success in 7.12, he has a 60% winrate mid and 70% winrate top. In 7.13 his Q got nerfed for good reason, way too much damage for a tank. 7.13 patch his winrate drops to 47% mid and 40% top lane
In our current patch 7.14 he has a 43% winrate mid and 60% winrate top. HOWEVER, that top lane winrate comes from challenger LCS, and challenger LCS is farcry from actual LCS.
He is no longer pick ban.
7.15 he's gonna fall out of meta even more.

Note that most of his wins come from winning over bad teams. For example C9 over Liquid. Korea hasn't been playing em anymore.

Where as the previous tank meta (cinderhulk) a large majority of tanks where strong due to items.
So since this is Riot and there logic is always twisted prepare for tank items to be nerfed xD

and the lethality meta... tanks just strong vs lethality where other champs fall victims to it... also that locket shield scales with HP of owner then tanks have a reason to be get tanky by providing more of a shield

LemurMonster1 votesGod, I hate tanks so much. why the hell they have % damage or high scaling? It makes them all scale too well with damage items. One is all they need. & then pure tank, out damaging even adcs. Why is that even a thing? Ether have one or other other, NOT both!
btw Gnar isnt a tank. he is a fighter & I hate being forced to build tank with him.

and it doesnt matter anyway, are better/more picked and banned.
Its a tank meta when playing a tank top, jungle and support + Galio mid sometimes is the Most Effective Tactic Available. Non-tanks like Janna or Renekton being "viable" doesnt matter when tanks like Thresh Braum and Mao are the better option in every role.
And even if these champs arent "tanks", they build tanky and play front line
