@Riot: Immediate question about Miss Fortune's passive update

Champion Update: Miss Fortune struts to PBE

MF is getting her gameplay update, but the update to Strut only makes it so she can't lose her passive to periodic, indirect damage (i.e. AOEs like Nasus E or Morgana's W). While that's good, there was a different update I had in mind:

At levels 11 or higher, Strut is no longer removed by minion damage.

Miss Fortune would make a great split-pusher if she didn't lose her MS bonus to some pervert ranged minion every time she tried to push. It's a real peeve of mine that she can't compete with Sivir at split-pushing because minions can knock out her passive.

Was this considered for Miss Fortune and found to be OP somehow?

EDIT: Also, concerning that MF can get her passive back from using her W, it needs to also prevent her from losing it for a short duration like Teemo. Otherwise that bonus speed is worthless when you're being attacked.

I think they added this change in indirectly, though I might be reading it wrong. They said the passive only drops to "direct, non-periodic damage", which they said means shields will prevent her passive from dropping. This means, in effect, grabbing BT will prevent her passive from dropping to random damage like minions. In a way it's not quite what you're looking for, but it can sort of function the same way.

I wonder if this also means Ignites wont drop it either.

Yea I was wondering about that too; from the looks of it, ignite and other DoTs like poisons and stuff will drop it, since they're periodic sources of damage? Which really sucks, imo, especially if, like OP said, there's no safeguard that prevents your passive from dropping immediately after you activate your W (I guess unless you have a shield or something). I guess it's still a net buff...

No, Ignite and Posions will not. Both of these damage sources are periodic (over time, not in a singular burst) indirect (not directly from an auto attack or minion attack) sources of damage.

So, it needs to be both direct and non-periodic? Cool, thanks

That is how I understood it. It can't be one or the other - therefore a Swain E would not stop her Strut.

Ignite will not.

From what I can tell here are the changes.

Passive: Scales with level and cant loose strut with dots anymore, really minor buff that misses the biggest glaring weakness of her passive that riot refuses to deal with.

Q Double Up: Situation damage increase if first target from double up dies from hit, neat that it is there but nothing of major benefit really.

W Impure Shots: Removed Grievous Wounds in trade for instant apply of Strut, decent size nerf to her kit actually.

E Make It Rain: Buffed the slow at early levels and reduced the duration but damage stayed the same, nice buff for a terrible ability.

R Bullet Time: Loss of Grievous Wounds from removal on Impure Shots(her ult still applies IS but IS no longer has GW so ult no longer has it either) so this is a decent size nerf as well.

Pretty much a overall nerf for MF, her Q buff is minor and situational and the E buff is ok but the ability is still terrible and the decent size nerfs to her W and ult are not compensated by those buffs and the new add-on to her W. Frankly I don't know why Riot is nerfing MF when she was a OK champ to begin with just to make her worse, she will most likely just barely be above Varus in terms of viability as a adc which is pretty bad

to me the W change adding her strut seems like it's adding a free chase/furor bonus to a skill in order for her to take advantage of her free AS steroid better in situations outside toe to toe dueling.

if the Strut application is thrown on there and wont be dropped from any source for the duration of the spell, it essentailly means she can have free strut when she really needs it nearly 100% of the time in any situation. either running or chasing down kills.

now SUPPOSING that that holds true, sounds like a decent buff overall in my opinion.

I'm willing to bet it doesn't just from Riot's track record when it comes to MF otherwise the ability would be like Draven's speed boost really which would be good for her but i am not getting my hopes up

Honestly, this isn't even worth the time. Just looks like another Miss Fortune nerf to me.

No more grievous wounds, which was a HUGE reason to pick her, the strut active means jack shit in a fight since it will just get knocked off by random attacking minion.

Make it Rain probably just got nerfed again from the sound of it, she is still a shit ass hybrid disaster as far as scaling goes and I imagine her ult still does mostly magic damage and does not scale.

Double up, is still a horrible idea that does not work as intended for 70% of the player base.

The ONLY positive thing I see here is that supposedly both shots of double up proc on hit effects so that MIGHT mean you can run gauntlet and get 2 slow fields but I doubt it, probably same as always and only the second one actually procs the effect.

Maybe I am wrong, but any "rework" the starts out with **"She was fine before we changed anything" **basically just means she's getting removed from the game.

Looks like a big fail pile to me....at least they made GP cool.

This is a huge buff to Miss Fortune, they removed her Grevious Wounds but her ultimate still has it. They're basically allowing her passive to scale harder and be much harder to shut off, while also making her Double Up significantly stronger. Maybe the average Miss Fortune player can't utilise it, but anyone who mains her knows how much of a buff this is.

Passive: Really difficult to shut off, I believe it scales harder as she levels?

Q: Can basically critically strike

W: Removed Grevious Wounds, not a big deal

E: The slow is stronger early game, the damage is sort of buffed too since the duration of the thing is shorter so the damage hits faster

and now you can activate her passive with her W awesome! ^^

Yep, I thought this was really interesting and I'm happy they added it. It's like an escape/chasing tool now.

And then those delayed caster minion attacks catch up to you and....... (X_X)

But then you realize your W reactivates your passive anyways and you're like...okRammus

All I have to say is I hope you guys are right but judging by the now 12 some threads saying the new MF sucks on PBE and why did they remove her grievous wounds since it was one of the main reasons to pick her, I think that this imagination land where MF has shields on her 100% of the time and does not constantly loose her passive to caster minions during a fight is a fantasy in your heads.

Why did people pick MF after she was nerfed to the ground with the release of League of Black cleaver? Well mainly so you could run a counter sustain lane and trade effectively against a sona/raka/taric or to deal with a vlad/swain/voli another reason was so you could get way ahead of your lane opponent by not having to buy boots till mid/late or ever for that matter.

The rework did nothing to address her scaling damage, her inability to 1v1 other adcs, the total lack of damage on her ult, or the fact that they made make it rain a 1 point skill and forced you to rely on the RNG of double up.

So now, you have a slightly better passive, no healing mitigation in lane, a "make it rain" that feels a little better in lane but has a shorter duration on the slow which is neither good nor bad since it just switches the instance of when its good to use vs when it was good to use before, and more damage on your Q that does next to nothing for a 1v1 and relies on RNG in a team fight as to what target it hits......

This rework does nothing but give her some extra semi random damage and takes away one of the primary things that made her unique and in return all she gets is some extra positioning and chase/kite ability, both of which she was already really good at and some cool new animations.

Double up sucks, that skill is what needed to be reworked, the fact that you can sucker punch some poor kid for 1/3 of their hp who doesn't really understand how it works or the fact it does retarded damage every once in awhile when your opponent is standing at a nice angle in lane or that its great to get some extra CS in a team fight when it randomly flies off and hits a minion that is on the opposite side of the lane that a team fight is taking place in does not merit keeping the ability. If anything changing it to work like a mini graves ult or having it bounce off the firs thing it hits then go in straight line so it becomes a matter of proper aiming rather than the game deciding that this time its going to hit the enemy champion but the next time it bounces off to the side like a fiddle E is not really that great on an adc.

But whatever, it's fun to go fast right? Least she's still awesome on dominion? Nice to be able to RNG a big dmg hit from long range every few tries no matter how you try to make it work? Guess it is kinda cool to build frozen gauntlet on her and create 2 slow fields?

I dunno I was hoping like most people, that her AP scaling would get removed in favor of getting some actual abilities and having a Q that was not gimped in a 1v1 and only 60% useful in team fights.

no she was not fine and this is still on pbe let's just wait and for more updates

I could see MF being potentially strong with the right team around her. Her Strut being able to stay up so long as she is shielded is pretty huge since she can move incredibly fast with it. Put her with Janna and Lulu or Orianna, a Bloodthirster, you're going to have an ADC who is going to have kiting potential just below Lucian and Kalista's level, but far more team utility with AOE slow and damage ultimate in the early/mid game.

She's essentially going to have a conditional personal mini Sivir ultimate to use for herself.

Couple that with her W active, if in the off chance she loses her shield and subsequently the strut, she can reshield quickly, then activate W to bring the strut back for continuous movement.

I'm looking forward to trying it as she's already an effective lane bully, this is only going to help her mid to late game out. It looks like she'll be a strong split pusher and early/mid game team fighter.

I'm not crazy about the fact they took out her grevious wounds though, I'd really doubt it would make her oppressive in the lane, but we'll wait and see.
