Kinda wish we had a RoD for tanks.

I know that you can build item 3027 on tanks and that it offers stats that are great (AP, health, mana. More of an AP bruiser item honestly). But I wish we had a tank item that would get stronger has the game progresses in the same way. Giving us more armor and MR the more time goes by.

Just a thought.

Best Nautlius build is 6 RoA, and I will not hear otherwise.

False. 5 ROA and void staff.

i was thinking the other day about a cinderhulk for resists. I left it as total armor/mr so that you get value off it immediately similar to how cinderhulk includes it's own health.

like 300 Health +15% Armor +15% Magic Resist

note: i have no clue what would build into it since cinderhulk is only made from bami cinder and a jungler item unless i trade the health for flat resists like this

40 Armor 40 Magic Resist +15% Bonus Armor +15% Bonus Magic Resist item 1031 + item 1057 +520gold

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

maybe have the 3 basic core items be item 1029 item 1033 item 1028 and then you build into item 1031 item 1057 item 1011 into the final item giving 400 hp 40 armor and 40 mr + 15% bonus hp +15% bonus armor +15% bonus mr

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

so you have the cost of 800 for item 1031 and 720 for item 1057 and 1000 for item 1011 for a cost of 2520 and say plus 680 for a total cost of 3200 making it a real commitment of gold to get item and by having to upgrade into 3 tiers champs who abuse "tank items" wouldnt be cost effective for them.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

By doing this, you would basically necessitate this item for Tanks.

This +item 1409 item 3026 item 3512 item 3083 How do you kill something with (1.) 1725 bonus hp, 132 ar, 125 mr or (2.) 1380hp, 181 ar, and 161 mr. That is super tanky and would make malphite, rammus and gaio incredibly strong.

Delete item 3800

New: item 3010 item 2053 item 1033

Make total cost appropriate for its recipe

Active is same as old RG but it's MS boost/slow has armor/MR scaling and caps out at a reasonable spot. This way bruisers can't abuse it and it's an additional mana/hp item for tanks that give them better team wide initiation if needed.

You ask for what Warmogs was in season 2.

Started off wit ha decent amount of health but you would get more from minion and champion kills and it maxed at like something like 1350 health.

i don't really know what that'd accomplish

usually when you want defensive stats, you want them ASAP, not to get the full gold value over time. there'd have to be a better passive to reward your gold sink than just some extra MR and armor; by the time it would finish, your enemies would probably have enough penetration to nullify it.

UberAffe1 votes

Unless is its passive was just some amount of overall damage reduction.

Not sure what scaling items really offer. Looking at RoA and Arch angle staff, they don't really offer better stats than other items when fully stacked, so it's not a late game item. however, they are usually early game purchases, and have a comparitively lower cost.

So scaling items as such would likely offer a mid game power spike. Is that a powercurve a Tank will want? would it be oppressive if tanks had such a power curve?

"arch angel"

"don't really offer better stats"

Not taking into account rabba passive, archangel easily gives the most ap an item you can ever get on any mana champion.

Anu3isII7 votes

And a powerful active too. That shield is a huge deal when you fight Assassins/Burst Mages.

Big Lincoln2 votes

RoA mostly offers a myriad of stats at the same time that all appeal to mages and fit their natural power curve, while also being very gold efficient late game.

Tank itemization is suited to having a strong mid game and being terrible early/late and also being gold inefficient, I don't think Riot would want an item that completely shifts that dynamic

The reward is an expensive tank item that can actually scale on par with expensive carry items so that tanks can invest even if only a little bit in a late game as well.

  1. What's to keep non-tanks like fizz or echo from abusing it?
  2. Tank stats are multiplicative, so what's to keep it good enough to buy, but not unbalanced?
  3. You could argue that the point of ROA is delaying your powerspike for a group of champions that are pretty strong. What are the best reasons for slow down a tank's tankiness?
Ralanr1 votes
  1. Nothing. Just like now there is little that tank items can do to prevent abuse from other classes.

That's all I got.

Sire Hippington1 votes
  1. The same things that are ment to keep them from abuseing any tankitem ever? Either they have to much damage from non items and can afford tank items, or they give up enough damage for it to be balanced. Also, both ekko and fizz want an early powerspike from their first item rather than delayed power, which is also why you rarly see bruiserbuilts with roa on them.
  2. Only an issue if it provides both multiplicative parts(resi+health), or if the overall cost efficiency, especially in the early, is to good.
  3. Tankiness currently spikes early/mid, and gets kinda obsolete later on. A strong scaleing tank item might provide a way to escape that set in stone powercurve.
Abyssphere1 votes
  1. You can ask this for every tank item ever made, champions building tanky build every tank item that's useful to them. It's not the fault of the items or a reason against creating them.
  2. Not sure about this. Everyone's stats are multiplicative but maybe it's not a good idea to put % amps on every stat a class buys.
  3. I guess if you were doing well enough that you wanted to mke sure you didn't fall off? I dunno.
Latex Choker1 votes

Dawngate had an item just like that, Gave health, Armor, Magic Resist, then more over time like RoA does. No one bought it because it's better to just buy dedicated defensive items than a jack of all trades one that takes time to ramp up.

It's not like anyone is playing Mundo, Aatrox and WW. 70 % GW and you will never see them.

then why does item 3123 have it up all the time?

then why does item 3123 have it up all the time?

It's not like anyone is buying it... Many ADCs completely skip LW (and then complain that they do no dmg to champions with armor) and if they get it, they prefer the other upgrade route.

There's only two items in the game that give both armor and MR. Neither of them also give health.

It's too much slot efficiency.

Erractic Eick1 votes

I kind've wish they had a Mejai's for tanks, as in the longer you live, the more Health, Mr, and Armor you get sort of deal.
