Surrenders should be a fucking majority vote.

There's no reason why Dumbass A and his premade, Dumbass B can keep 3 people fucking hostage in a game when they've gone 0/15.

That "Accept" button when a match is found, it also means "I accept that this game will be good or bad, and I will or will not want to finish it. But I must work with my team no matter what".

There's no reason why Dumbass A and his premades, Dumbass B and Dumbass C, should be allowed to have majority vote on wether or not the game should be forfeit. ######PS: this only applies to Flex and Normal games

Want a different, more complex, solution? Treat premades as one entity by agregating each individual vote into 1 single vote. For example:

  • Premades A1 and A2; premades B1 and B2; solo player C
  • Premade group A - both vote "yes" - count as 1 "yes"
  • Premade group B - both vote "no" - count as 1 "no"
  • Solo player C votes "yes" - count as 1 "yes"
  • Majority vote: yes

Another example:

  • Premade group A1, A2 and A3; solo players B and C
  • Premade group agrees on "no"
  • Solo players each vote "yes"
  • Majority: yes

That said, such complexity isn't necessary, but it would make more sense in the context of "premade groups".

That is actually a pretty good idea

If Riot or somebody worked it out fully and tested it we could see this replacing the current surrender system.

I still think it's a lot of work for a trivial problem. Yes, it would make sense, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Right now what I really want is a better Death Recap. Actually, I've been waiting for it since I first died to nothing.

Sucks that so many sheep are downvoting you, but I'll give you an advice.

No one really holds you hostage. If 2 people are dumb enough to keep ruining a game and refuse a surrender, then they'll be fine with playing alone. Just dc, alt+F4, you won't have to wait long before the game ends anyway. And trust me, a 20 minute wait for a new game (low priority) is better by far than having to sit trhough a dreadful game any longer than necessary.

But it in the end it's LoL. Don't expect many people with a mind of their own, or with a sliver of empathy. You're liking the match? keep playing. You're not liking it enough to keep playing? Don't. It's not like you're going to jail.

The rules as they are, are there to keep PC and "sensible players" from crying all the time. And tbf, a company must have them, no matter how frustrating they are.

I'll probably take many downvotes as well, but read my comment and try my advice. If, at the end of the day, you're still very unsatisfied, just try another game for as much as you need. That helps too.

Maybe because they deserve to play and enjoy the game as much as you do, regardless of how bad they are at it...

If you and the other 2 players agree to quit, just stay in the base/fountain and the enemy players will just end the game faster (2 v 5)

How is it reasonable in any way for 2 people to have a right to troll but for 3 people not to have the right to quit something that's obviously lost? That's completely illogical.

DrCyanide4 votes

And if it's changed then you'd be complaining about troll premades surrendering obviously winnable games.

As a side note, anyone ever notice how often "premades" are the scapegoat here? I can't tell you the number of times my friends and I would disagree on surrender votes. I've also seen people on the boards who assume that the 0/15 players are the ones who voted as a surrender because "lol, who cares?" and they vote no on surrender to hold those bad players accountable and make them stick it out. Fact is you don't know who's voting no on a surrender vote.

Then you have shit friends? When I ask my friends to surrender a game because I'm bored/tired, they do and that's that. Friends should respect your whatever need above a game.

but then we would have an increase in people troll/forfeiting just cause.

youre 15/0 Jax along with a friend who is 13/2 Irelia

but youre feeding allies decided to call it quits and 3-2 you.

for this reason is why votes must be either unanimous or 4-1

Nah, they're fantastic friends, we just have a difference of opinion in some situations. If it was "I need to leave" then sure, we'd all vote for surrender, but "I'm bored"?

Yeah? Again, it's a game. It stops existing the moment you log off, I don't see why any friend would hold you somewhere you don't want to be.

Where we want to be is hanging out with each other. Since we live far apart, that only happens over voice chat in a game, regardless of if we're winning, losing, in lobby, or wherever. That means that surrender becomes just about what any of us thinks of that individual match, because surrender or not we're still hanging out.

My online friends, who I consider as close as my real life friends, follow the same principle I mentioned before, so I don't see your point. And I do with them. If my friend is tired/doesn't want to play the game anymore, I will surrender it. Why would you force someone to be in a situation they don't want to be in if you care about them?

So your friends are just there to do whatever you want?

If your friend wants to play, wouldn't it be a good friend that finishes out a game even if they are tired/bored?

I do the same, if they want to leave. And no? Feelings of discomfort being eased take priority over having fun. This is a universal rule with human beings, I don't see why you find it odd it also applies to the game.

It's not as simple as that. Social contracts and obligations (spoken or not) are usually something you fulfill whether you want to or not (you can obviously not but that has a chance of reflecting poorly on you) which adds stability to interactions in humans since going through with those actions/encounters allow the other person to rely on you.

You can tell your friend you'll help him with something, and obviously, you can bail last minute. However, people see abandoning semi social contracts (in this case agreeing to play a game) as a negative given the circumstances. For instance, if you're always wanting to quit because you're feeding, it wouldn't be unreasonable to no longer queue with you because of it.

Friendships aren't always just 'never inconvenience someone over anything'.

  • It was just a fishing trip (This is boring. I know we here 2 minutes ago and caught nothing. Let's leave!)
  • It was just a hike (Fuck nature, I know you wanted to see that waterfall, but I'm no longer interested.)
  • It was just a movie
  • It was just a pick up game of basketball, soccer, football, tennis, etc
  • It was just your art exhibit

They all stop existing really when you stop doing them. You're no longer on that hike. You're no longer fishing. You're no longer watching that movie. However, you typically make value judgements of whether or not if the inconvenience to you in finishing it for your friend's enjoyment outweighs yours. It just seems by reading your responses that the answer is 'never worth a minor inconvenience' to you. Which is fine, and I am sure some people would consider that a good friend. I would not.

tldr; it's just not that simple, and I feel applying 'discomfort' to a situation like having to finish a game may be blowing it out of proportion in a lot of cases.

Dude. It's a fucking made up game, not a social obligation of any form. It's not "real" and it will never on any universe even rival an actual need/discomfort.

That doesn't matter. It's an activity with a friend. That doesn't make the experience fake. Also as for 'rival an actual need / discomfort', that was already covered in my text. I don't know how to break it down for you any further I guess.

Sucks for solo players but it's whatever. You can't do anything about it logically and riot won't do anything about it cause it will be abused. Games naturally weren't meant to be surrendered so we're lucky to even have the option.
