Next time you see somebody playing a tank and is about to get a kill for themselves...

Melledoneus··8 votes·847 views

Let them have it.

Sure, being a DPS carry or a bruiser can easily net you that S, but when you play tanks who have nothing but CC and minimal damage, it sucks. Getting an S is very difficult as a tank, especially when no good alternate builds exist. If you're the 10/3 ADC and you're already stomping the enemy team, let that tank have the kill. Hell, he might even get an S despite dying to get his team kills because of his selflessness. Because the worst feeling ever is being unable to hit the 6 and 7 mastery levels is a struggle in itself. Trust me, I know.

So don't be a greedy little dinosaur ALL the time. Just let your tank have a kill or two if they worked hard for it. Don't be the tax collector of kills.

You realize that grades are based off other players playing the exact same champion right? There is no magic KDA number that applies to everyone. You dont need as many kills on a Maokai to get an S than you do a Caitlyn

But at the same time if I am a tank, I will always be in danger of dying to protect my carries, meaning I need more kills to balance out the KDA for mastery.

I'm trying to think of a tank that has weak base damages that isn't Leona/Braum lol

Most tanks will actually have an easy time last hitting champions in the early game because ADCs base damages suck. Sure, they can bully melee lanes but when it comes to doing more damage to secure a kill, almost every class is better than ADCs in that regard for a good chunk of the game. That's why it's so common for them to bitch about kills in the first place because it's actually difficult to secure kills as ranged ADCs. It's about the only true struggle they have, if there was such a thing for the best class in the game.

But I take kills unless I think you're better than me. Because I'll do more with that gold one way or another. An unkillable tank is just as useful as an ADC that's fed. Being unkillable is funny as shit.

"Haha nice tower. Wow Nasus is that a Cain or a cotton swab? Did I just get tickled? Your mom goes to college haha idiot."

-me when I get early kills on malphite/Maokai

I almost always get S rank when I play Mundo.

Melledoneus2 votes

Mundo is a juggernaut.

Michael7021 votes

Somebody should tell Riot because they have him listed as a tank.

Melledoneus1 votes

Sub-classes haven't been fully established yet, unfortunately.

Ralanr1 votes

I see him listed as primary fighter.

Michael7021 votes

And secondary? Most people build him full tank.

Ralanr1 votes

Sigh

Look, Garen, Nasudc and Darius are fighter/tanks, which is usually the class combination that creates a juggernaut.

Juggernauts are low mobility, low CC, high durability and sustain, and decent to high damage champions that are weak to kiting. This fits Mundo like a glove.

As for his build, let me tell you that Tanky == Tank. Mundo has no hard CC, and is only built around hurting people and not dying. He provides nothing to his team beyond damage and being a meatwall that can't force people to hit him.

The reason he builds no offensive items unlike other juggernauts is because his damage scales better with health.

Builds do not determine a proper role, call tank Yasuo Tank Yasuo as much as you want, it doesn't make him a tank like Shen or Maokai.

Please understand that it's not the build that defines a champions class, but their kits. If builds decided classes, then we wouldn't have a class system in the first place.

I'm sick and tired of people blaming tanks but listing juggernauts and fighters. I don't feel like other builds have this BS. A full AP Amumu or Zac isn't going to be called a tank rather than a burst assassin, while a full tank build Ekko isn't going to be called an assassin.

Please understand there's more to being a tank than just being hard to kill.

Michael7021 votes

I hear what you're saying but Riot still has Mundo listed as a Fighter/Tank.

Ralanr1 votes

As they do Garen and Darius.

You should also not take secondary classes seriously. They call Xerath a Mage/Assassin.

Michael7021 votes

Maybe you shouldn't take classes so seriously. Mundo is listed as a tank and most people build him full tank. He's a tank.

Ralanr1 votes

How's he going to tank for his team? How does he engage fights, lockdown carries in teamfights, or peel for his team?

How does he help his team beyond damage and being unkillable.

He's too selfish to actually tank for his team. The best he can do is stand in from of skil shots, which isn't great tanking.

Mundo is a tanky damage dealer. But he doesn't have the utility to tank.

Michael7021 votes

His Q peels just fine. It's obvious you have your own version of what a tank is and isn't. So how about we agree to disagree?

Ralanr1 votes

A slow isn't that great, just a more spammable Olaf Q.

But sure. We'll agree to disagree.

CeexSett2 votes

You know the classes listed on the client are the basic 6 of Support/Tank/Fighter/Marksman/Mage/Assassin? Riot reformulated those and introduced the new subclasses, where Juggernaut is.

Mundo is a Juggernaut, which is a subclass of Fighter with some resemblances to a tank.

You discussion was just you calling an Apple a plant while Ralanr calling it a fruit. Both are correct, he was just being more specific.

Michael7021 votes

Got an official link to subclasses and which champion is in each subclass?

Michael7021 votes

Awesome! Those are the links I was hoping you would post.

You'll notice that each post has an introduction about how these aren't set in stone. That each champion can't be neatly fit in each category. That some champions are hybrids. That not even the Rioters agree on which champions should be in each subclass. That it's important to understand the difference between how the champion was designed and how it is actually played in the current meta.

Now let's look at Mundo. Almost everybody builds him pure tank. "Tanks excel in shrugging off incoming damage and focus on disrupting their enemies more than being significant damage threats themselves." Yep. That sounds like Mundo.

CeexSett2 votes

How does Mundo disrupt the enemies that much? Dealing damage is not disrupting, disrupting is denying the enemy some action, by means of CC. He has a slow and a lot of HP, he can't be ignored, but he isn't disrupting. Disrupting is what Nautilus does for example.

Michael7021 votes

When I play Mundo, I peel for my carries. My Q is very effective.

DunkinNoobs1 votes

You can disrupt without CC. You ever played adc and have a Mundo in your face? That's pretty damn disrupting.

PermabannedGaren1 votes

To be blunt, if I'm playing a carry, no matter the lane, I will always try to secure the kill themselves.

Now, I won't rage if a tank secures the kill, but the fact of the matter is the gold is better on a carry than it is on the tank, and if the tank is dying like in your scenario resetting his gold value is just a bad idea.

A snowballing carry that keeps the snowball rolling is more likely to win the game.

Requiemsfire1 votes

Well all tanks snowball pretty hard anyways. Their damage from simply levelling up and building sunfire cape early is pretty massive while making them hard to kill.

literally 2/3 coins for level 7 on Maokai for almost a month now and I recently got a S- on him feels bad

zlumpy1 votes

Assists count the same as kills now for support I think. Not saying you should steal the kill. Tbh I think some tanks get more use out of early gold adavantage over some adc.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

no

assists count the same as kills and if he can't kill effectively then that bounty he will get will just make things harder on the team.
