So, how about this as an idea for a way to nerf GP.

It seems that GP is one of the best champions in the game right now for people who can play him, and that's partly because of his lane not having any pressure to get ahead. So my idea is : Raise the mana cost on his w by a significant amount (say 40 for simplicity) and have it go down with rank. This way GP cant just sustain his way through lane phase and has to make some smarter decisions on whether to use oranges for the heal or for the cleanse. (Yes i know that GP's tent to max w last, that was an intentional part of my suggested change which should moves more of his power into lategame)

There are some other ideas such as giving GP mana for proccing his passive and increase his base mana on his q and w to encourage lane interactions, or slow the speed of GP's bullet or the speed at which the barrels explode, But these aren't the main suggestion.

Please leave comments and suggestions below. Remember to like and subscribe, Upvote my posts and follow my instagram.

But srsly, tell me why you think GP is OP and what should be done about him as well as your opinions. Gangplank

you'll already go oom pretty fast if you spam oranges and try to farm/harass with parrrley. His early game isn't the problem, it's how terrifying he can become late game.

His barrels do a shitton of damage and slow when hit by them you gotta be on point to destroy them before he detonates them.

honestly, that's the only thing I find threatening about him. his ult hurts a lot more than it used to but it's his ult it's supposed to.

look at the range on that!

and this guy know how to do it right.. sneaky and no way to destroy the barrel before he hits you with it. unless your ranged..

But that's the reason people play GP otherwise he wouldn't be enjoyable. Also as a team you should always get one of your ranged champions to attack the barrels before you go in, tha'ts part of their job. Remember that a GP without barrels is a sad GP. If you're melee, its your job to get on top of him and chunk him but you can't do that if he can just heal up after your engage and playit safe from range afterwards. GPs also tent to get some early mana item making going oom a lot harder.

I try to get the barrels but I'm not always quick enough.. (Im usually ADC)

It just blows up in my face... xD takes about 1/3rd of my health.

kasfas1 votes

Well at that point you should have enough lifesteal, or your support should have enough shield/heal to prevent/mitigate that damage. Since you mostly play adc, you may not know how simple laning can be with GP. All he needs to do is farm from range and out sustain his opponent until he does TONS of damage.

I know I forget life steal a lot as an ADC.

Bronze moments. I focus crit a little too much...

Still trying to find the right build for Tristana

kasfas1 votes

Go with the crit build. I believe it's the best one currently.

Trist is the kind of adc that isn't great if you don't know her well, but is great if you know her well; if you don't seem to be doing enough damage, it's because you don't know how to play her well enough yet.

Iageri1 votes

I know how to play her pretty well..

I just try out weird build on her and they end up being lack luster..

Crit build is always best I find myself going back to it everytime. But I still experiment time to tine,

kasfas1 votes

Well then good, I don't really think any other build would be good on her right now anyway, nothing really synergises with her better than flat ad and crit and some attackspeed.

Maybe try an onhit build with things like runaans and bork, with like a wits end and a nashors maybe?

Also maybe try an iceborn gauntlet, you can proc the enhancer with your e and auto from far away to get the slow, and then charge up the e with autos really easy. So I'd say basically just go with the ezreal blue build on trist and see if it works.

I'm just throwing things around to see if they might have some synergy. I have no actual idea.

That's what I do. Ahaha

Sounds like a good plan then the slow helps me stack the bomb.

i dont think its his heal that makes or breaks Gangplank its is stupidly strong wave clear. he can clear any wave with one or two barrels. he also gets free asst by using his ult in other lanes that allows him to stack gold. the parley passive gives him more gold income. if you dont crush him in the 1st 20 mins of the game he gets so much gold from his kit he just simply out itemize majority of the teams. and with a full crit build he can do crazy aoe damage with barrels.

kasfas1 votes

But its his early game that IS the problem, because its super safe. He SHOULD scale into a lategame monster but right now his earlygame just doesn't pay for it. He can just farm from range and heal up until he gets enough gold to make him HUGE. His earlygame needs to be more exploitable to allow people to effectively bully him out of lane.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

its not as safe as you think, he isnt great dueling early with out items, he has no escape and no real tank stats. if you can play a champ that can keep up with his wave clear and provide kill pressure in lane you can win early vs him.

kasfas2 votes

But he doesn't need to duel, he just needs to farm and keep minions close enough to his tower to avoid getting caught out too far. Even for those champions who provide kill pressure, he can just avoid confrontation and sustain himself after disengaging with barrels and oranges. That might work (What you've said) against a lesser skilled or lesser practiced GP, but against the good ones, he can pretty much avoid confrontation in lane entirely unless he can win and then scale into the mid-lategame.

If you make the mistake of getting hit by a barrel, you deserve to take the crazy damage it does.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

missing the point, does no one one comprehend anything ? my point to how Gangplank is strong is because he can stack gold off his parley passive and the aoe wave clear he can provide with his barrels. by being able to generate more gold (and i dont know why i dont see it more often getting a item 1083 early) you are able to get your bigger ticket items faster then your enemy. even with out kills. the rate in which he can stack gold and the cd on the barrels goes hand and hand. back in the day there use to be a build called BANK PLANK it is where you stacked gold income items like item 3123 which use to give bonus gold on killing creeps, monsters, champs. and even before that there was the philosopher stone and heart of gold income items that was a standard pick up on him in laning phase where all you did for 20 mins was stack gold to get your items and team fight late.

I know about all those things, you don't have to talk down to me like you assume I haven't been around for more than 5 seconds.

I was referring to your last comment "He can do crazy aoe damage with his barrels" which you stated in such a way that you make it seem like that's a problem in his kit.

his early game is exploitable, OP you are delusional if you think GP needs a Nerf. People are just picking the wrong champions into him or the vast majority of players who play him, recognise he is relatively weak in the early game and thus need to play safe. gp doesnt usually build tank beyond the steraks gage and he's only really a major threat past level 13. He is easy pickins for your generic carry junglers like kha zix, rengar master yi etc.

GP's bullets are so slow that you can stop his parley from hitting his barrel. His barrels being destructible is a huge factor in why i think you are havin a laugh m8. nerfing gp again, what a laugh.

You even disproved your own post by saying 'anyone who knows how to play him'.

That sure explains why every statistical website for league says he has some of the highest winrates and playrates in the game, as well as upwards of 57% winrate for those who get a good number of games in on him going up to 60%+ for those who play in the upper ranks of league as well as being a consistent presence in Professional play.

He is a VERY good champion and saying he is weak is just unintelligent. Coming from you who seems to like to play him in his ranked games, I can see that you must just upset and can't accept that you are either not very good with GP, or because of how many times you failed to pull off a combo because someone better than you disarmed your barrels before you could get it (a thing that virtually never happens to good GPs). Whatever your perception may be, GP is a VERY good champion who doesn't actually have an exploit.

He gets - cc removal with a %missing hp heal - free movespeed for proccing barrels - ranged harass - fantastic waveclear after first item - 2 aoe slows - armor pen on barrels

Also, saying he is an easy gank target with 345 base movespeed with a 30% movespeed buff and the 60 movespeed from phage (which is a core component of his most used item) that he also gets on killing a barrel, as well as the 40-80% slow, this champion is not gankable by a well versed player. On top of all of this, the aforementioned "well versed player" would very often land his barrel combo before someone can disrupt the chain because of how people think (that being you want to focus on your own champion's abilities before another one's, and GP focuses on his barrels and timings while other players wouldn't do such NEARLY as often/ as quickly).

GP can play safe in pretty much every matchup a LOT more easily than other champions and to say that he can be killed by carry junglers is just not relevant because in the lane he can simply avoid them, and in teamfights he gets peel from his team if it's well put together.

The only real relevant counter to good GP players are champions with instant ranged autos like vel'koz or azir, and even then those champions don't often get played in the toplane.

This is why he needs to be weaker in the early game, to prevent people from just safely farming away until they get to their powerspike.
