This excuse works for 
and other "op" champions that go oom after one combo then get bullied to death....
But let's ignore energy users dashing around the map doing more damage and utility without having resource gating because #muhskillcaps

At level 3 fizz has 372 mana. Q,W,E, at that point costs him 180 mana... so lol he can combo twice and then be oom.

Fizz and many other assassins are disgusting just due to their BS kits, dying to one never seems fair in most cases. The only exception is Zed because he was the first attempt at making an assassin with actual counterplay which succeeded.
Titanium701 votesIntended to comment: Where on earth Zed has more counterplay than the others... his laning is equally broken his snowballing qually stupid and counterplay is called 'buy zhonyas' which works against the others as well. Only his powercurve is a little different from the others. Zed is even stronger early on to be less effective in Late. As compensation Zed is so riddiculously forgiving - ulting the guy with zhonyas 1v5 is not a leathal situation because you can always port back accross the whole map!

Zed has counterplay through items, abilities, energy, champions, summoner spells and delayed assassination; all of these things do not just hurt Zed, they completely stop his ability to assassinate.
The assassin class is defined by majority of the assassin roster to be a class with simple, point&click almost uncounterable kits, just take a look at the entire assassin roster.
Zed has a good laning phase to make up for one of the worst late games of any assassin in the game, there are a ton of champions that completely negate his ability to snowball and roam just because they are mostly point and click with CC.
Zed is also gated by energy, arguably one of the worst resources in the entire game after laning phase.
