Sterak's Gage Question

atomicwit··1 votes·725 views

I tried this on Ezreal and still got one shot by Annie flash Tibbers. I forgot to look if it went on CD after I died but I'm wondering if its passive ALWAYS activates before I die. If the damage is instant and I still die (like vs Rengar), does it mean he went through the Sterak's Shield as well?

Damage may be greater than your hp plus the proc

This.

If Hexdrink is any indication of how it works, it will generate the shield if the incoming damage passes the threshold for damage taken listed on the item. I know this extensively as a Garen player. F---ing Hexdrinker, ruining early game ults...

I think if, lets say you have 500 HP and something would do 600 damage to you instantly, Steraks still activates and saves you.

It goes on CD for 45s after it's activated. In order to activate it, your champion has to be able to withstand a certain amount of damage based on your level within 8seconds. I believe if the damage you take is instantaneously greater than that needed to activate it and also your remaining HP, you will ultimately end up dieing. I.E. you have 300 hp left and you need 100 more damage to activate Sterak's Gage, but Annie does 350 dmg to you with one spell, so you will die because the order is take damage > add damage to counter > if greater than X activate Sterak's Fury. The last part can not take place because you are already dead.

If that's how it works, it would make me very sad since this feels like an anti-burst item.

steraks is a poor choice on ezreal, as you have to take a certain amount of damage for it to activate (which is rather large for an adc. its like 1800 damage lategame), and the bonus shield it grants is based on your maximum hp. the damage also scales on base ad of a champion. adc ususally have a rather low base ad.

this item is designed to be only really effective on health stacking champions with high base ad. fighters in particular.

banshees and/or hexdrinker would have been the better choice in that scenario.

It likes just burned right through the shield. Steraks gives a shield based on your max hp and if Steraks if your only health item, you don't really have that much, and you likely still dont have resistances either. The difference between 2000 health and 3300 health isn't actually that significant when you consider how "effective health" works in this game.
