Toplane Sona - Destroy Riven, Renek, Fiora, Irelia, Jax and Others
I'm kinda trying to master Sona top (LAS Gold 3), just for the sake of having fun for once, and mainly because of practice reasons, Sona seems like a simple champion, she has multiple combos and that all depends on how you play it, put that with the fact that she has the lowest base AD and you will get a champ that will teach you how to farm properly because you need to.
#How to Play Her:
**Starting items: *
(Sona really has the lowest HP in the game, low AF, this will keep you alive and even help you win trades). As soon as you can get
and mana, it will help you a lot.
Runes:
Resolve
- Grasp of the Undying: poke the enemy champs with it to gain max life and get tanky.
- Shield Bash: after doing a combo with Q passive, use W right away before the damage lands, it will proc Shield Bash
- Conditioning: get tankier
- Excesive Growth or Revitalize: depending on what you want.
Inspiration:
- Biscuit (more MP and sustain)
- Potion Buff (will save your ass in sticky situations).
Items:
- Must Have
afterwards I recommend getting tanky with
you can build ap tanky items afterwards, such as
and I recommend getting this 2

In this build 2 items are key:
: each time you cast spells it heals you a bit, and whenever an enemy tries to kill you it will give you more mana to keep yourself alive.
: helps you to poke and get cdr, but mostly it helps you to farm.
#Gameplay:
-
focus on having a good farm, farming with Sona is really hard, second, try to proc Undying as often as possible, get as tanky as you can and melt the enemy laner. Try to let your teammates know you are tanky and that if you are on the front they should not stay behind, they must help you, else if you are tanking and they are behind watching waiting for you to die then the there is nothing to do, the game is lost. Try to make your jungler gank you, let them know the enemy laner is going to have low HP most of the time, and you get a ton of sustain to do a good engage.
-
When the enemy laner is up to engage you get ready for it, have your passive almost ready at 2 stacks, so that you can decide your next move. If the laner does engage you use your W when is up to unleash his damage, it will reduce it by 30%, making you tanky AF with proper items. With enough CDR and good tanky items you can stand and win easily against Fiora, Riven, Renekton, Jax, and others.
-
Sona has more damage than people give credit, if you get a lead of farm and kills you are going to have a good amount of burst and sustained damage.
-
Make sure to take the chances you can to contribute with a good TP to a fight, your healing capacities, damage reduction, zoning, burst damage and CC contribute to fights more than a normal tank can, and if you are upfront taking focus better. In team fights make sure to reduce the damage of the biggest offender with your W.
-
Finally, if you get the chance and you think it is viable, get a
, it will give you incredible zoning, unexpected range and good sustained damage and poke.
**Good Matchups: **

**Bad Matchups: **
avoid this two, J4 locks you down really hard and his burst gives you little time to apply your W damage reduction, but if forced against him take Exhaust. Also, if there is a Teemo just swap the lanes, his Q anulates your biggest source of damage so he wrecks you really hard, if forced just go
against him.
I consider toplane one of the most difficult lanes mainly because I usually get ganked if I push past my tower, but if the enemy toplaner pushes their asses towards my tower at 10% HP my jungler never comes.
