Why is there not 10 bans in total instead of 6?

I know threads similar to this have been made before but was wondering if riot has ever given there opinion on the current number of bans or at least explained why they don't plan to increase the total bans. IMO, the champion pool is currently large enough to warrant an increase in bans.

They have given their opinion and it's essentially that they want it to be for strategic purposes and not for banning broken champions. Unfortunately, the only strategy involved in it currently is when you know who you're against and have an understanding of what champion they're good at. So basically LCS players.

Another argument against it is that it would allow people to ban out virtually an entire role. Granted, that's not a very realistic situation when you have 5 bans/side. It's still a possibility.

I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of any.

The most reasonable answer I've read so far was: Increasing the number of bans wouldn't change anything. In Pro Play, instead of picking the next best pool of Champions Nr.7-20, you now pick from the Champions Nr.11-24. In Ranked Queue, you can't possibly know what your opponent is good at, so increasing bans would only give each team a mere 5 out of ~130 chance to ban out each others mains.
