Is there ever a good time to buy pink wards?

I always feel like they're just gonna get destroyed and end up giving the enemy gold... some advice on when? please...

I buy one when I have 75g after I back and I don't have one on the map. It's damn near always worth the money as long as you place it intelligently.

Pink wards are important for vision of invisible champions (twitch, shaco, rengar...) as well as enemy wards/traps. When a team tries to capture an objective such as baron or dragon, pink wards are important for checking for enemy traps, wards, and invisible champions. Overall, pink wards help dominate a team's vision control of a map when placed correctly. If the enemy destroys a pink ward, it is not a major gold swing.

As others said, they're pretty much always worth it to have one on the map. So if you don't have one down, and you have 75g and a free inv slot, get one. (And versus certain champs [e.g. twitch, akali, etc.], you should probably have one on you even if you already have one down somewhere.)

Even if it gets destroyed, then you've gained intel on enemy champ locations since you can see them destroying it, and that's kindof the point. Not to mention up until that point, you can be confident that the enemy team doesn't have vision of your team there, which is super useful for setting up ganks or reccalling at low hp or similar.

Actually defending pink wards can often be worth it too, especially now that their health regens.

Yup, they get their health back out of combat, so if you can stop them from getting 4 hits on it before they have to back off, it'll likely be back to 4 hits again by the next time they contest it.

If its early and you're getting pushed into turret and they keep taking your pink from the bush closest to you don't put it there. Put it in your jungle to watch for the enemy jung, cause trust me, they're looking to dive you. You should always get a pink if you have the gold for it. It's placement is what you have to think about afterwards. :)

First back you should always invest in a pink, that's just basic playing. 5 players x 5 pinks...? That's TONs of vision. a permanent ward opens your 2 yellows for even more use. I main Mid and once I get a pink I feel safe knowing I can maintain 1 side of the river in check while I have the other flank warded. Not only that but the placement also helps your whole team...yes it gets destroyed sometimes and the enemy gains 30g but that vision probably saved you the fear of not knowing where X player is. Or a death or a shutdown where the enemy would stand to gain even more gold.
