Mordekaiser's passive is an insult to Kassadin.
40% AP on his basic attacks? That would literally be the perfect thing for Kassadin to have, given his theme and role.
What does Kassadin get? 10%.
I tried playing him again the other day and he felt SO weak. Please show Kassadin some love and give him damage and abilities that put him in line with other mages/assassins.

Maybe its just a low elo thing, but a post-20 minute Kassadin that's even or a head and manages to stack his items is an absolute menace.
I dumpster kids on kassadin if I don't fall too far behind in lane. (and there's really no good reason to fall behind in lane as kassadin. You probably aren't outright WINNING any lanes, but he's pretty easy to at least stay even with.)
Kassadin is having more damage added to his W active in 9.16. (W Active Damage 40-140 >>> 70-170)
IMO he's still incredibly strong.
Mord can't get to backline without flash R, and then even that get completely countered by a QSS or just dipping LoS. So stats don't mean a lot when just just waddling around being merc'd. A 3 item Kass will dumpster delete a fed ADC with no issues.
Simply put if Kass got a .4 AP ratio on his autos... his hard counters would just get Lichbane melee'd down. That's a no go. As it stands he has both excellent mobility and burst. Plus compared to AD assassin's is significantly tougher. He doesn't need DPS as well as his burst.
Honestly I'd like to see Kassadin lose some CD on his R for a lower Q CD and better base mana regen. Would weaken his late game slightly, but make getting through lane a more common event.
