I need someone to explain something to me about J4

A while ago, J4 was buffed to have his R's damage always go through, even if the person dashed/flashed away. Can someone explain to me how this makes any sense? If I'm not in the spot where the ability landed, why is it still dealing damage? I literally could not have physically been hit by this ability, and yet it's hurting like a bitch for no reason. Why is this actually a thing?

I have no idea, but as long as J4 is massively overshadowed by other champs, i don't care.

Because it's a targeted ability. If it were a placed skillshot, you'd have a case, but since it's targeted, the damage always must go though, like with all targeted abilities.

It's point and click, so even though you can escape the walls part of his ult before they form, the ability was still activated on you and the damage follows you. I think it's pretty fair, considering the walls themselves are paper thin enough to allow Vayne to tumble through them. I've even seen champions just walk through those walls before, so the walls are not the strong part of his ult even though they should be.
