Nerf items, buff champions. This solves the adc meta.
I'm not sure when this decision was made by Riot or why but just about every S1 champion over time has now been nerfed either straight-up or through a rework, most recently Evelynn. Then they decided to compensate by making marksman and support items ridiculous. I've played this game since S1 and items have never dictated a match as much as they do now. I don't get why, it's just how it is.
Counterplay and thinking in general used to be key factors in games, not just 'skill'. Now it's devolved to basically Hungry Hungry Hippos unless bot lane feeds or gets fed and then it's usually over before it even starts thanks to these ridiculous items. Censor nerfs are certainly nice but are just a drop in the bucket of necessary changes before games become consistently fun and engaging again.
There's a reason everyone wants to complain about this season of LoL: it sucks! From the experience of one who's gotten at least gold in solo queue for 5 seasons in a row on an account this has been the most miserable season to play to date by a significant margin. This season you can build damage, have a boatload of CC, or build support items and glue yourself to the marksman or just do nothing and die like a dog. Those are your options for S7. Hopefully S8 will be more promising.
I miss Bruisers, many reworked champions, mages being useful without being ridiculously overloaded on mobility or raw damage (seriously what even is Ahri) and champions being powerful in general without needing very specific items. I don't expect the game to be reverted to have all of this, nor does it have to to be fun again, but I'd take S1 and everything that came with it over this season in particular. I hope I won't be able to say the same about next season but considering how goofy the upcoming keystones seem it's looking bleak, at least regarding individual champion power.
