What separates Bronze from Diamond

Played some normals where rank gap is huge. Here's some stuff I notice.

  • Wards
  • Mechanics
  • Objective priorities
  • Objective trading
  • Concepts of zoning and map control
  • Champion pool
  • Other things too tired to remember

  1. Seriously though, no matter what position you are you buy pinks if you don't already have one up. It is 75g for permanent vision.
  2. Pick non-garbo champs
  3. If enemy is going to take an objective, even if you can make it there in time to fight _them. take an objective on the opposite side of the map for free instead of getting 400g from a fight (or losing 400-1200g from losing the fight)
  4. Recognizing opportunities to hit enemies for free, even if you don't completely commit on the kill
  5. Objective priority is dynamic, it isn't the same in all circumstances. Usually it's Baron > Inhib > Inhib Tower > Elder > etc
  6. Baron > Elder Elder Drake lasts 2 minutes and you do more damage, Baron lasts 4-5 min, gives more damage, makes enemies unable to push and allows you to easily push. Pretty much free map control for 5 min.

I thought Silver, Gold and Plat did.

This one drives me nuts as a support main. I'll poke, and my ADC will go full ham into a fight we won't win because I got some poke off.

I love it when I poke, my Adc committs, then backs off when I already went balls deep...

Pick non-garbo champs

You can get to D5 just off one-tricking any champion and having decent mechanics.

However, you won't get much further if your macro is bad.

Yeah, your nonsense on "picking non garbo characters" is a bit asanine, as one of my friend recently made his plat promos using nothing but teemo/urgot.

The overall biggest problem I find with lower-tier people (especially in bronze) is that they see a character in one game go HAM (usually a mage), then think "hey, if this person has 20 kills and their rank is slightly above mine then surely I can get 15 despite not knowing much about the character", proceeding to go 0-12 in the next game using it while someone like me drinks their supple insides with a straw and makes them hate their lives. Realistically, if you can have 3 characters you're decent at and you can stay ahead of your lane opponent while also not losing any major objectives (tower), then you're usually better than 90% of the cesspool that is bronze.

Disagree with baron being rank #1. Inhib is definitely first priority. Having an inhib down is free objectives elsewhere, including baron.

I'd say Inhib > Baron > Elder > Inhib Tower > Tower > Buffs

If Baron is free vs Inhib being free, you take free baron. Baron is a contested objective, which means the other team does not get Baron on top of the fact that your team has Baron. This stacked on top of the fact that Baron gives you enormous pressure in all 3 lanes while giving you fighting potential. Getting baron is pretty much guaranteed inhibs.
