When URF came out, it had notoriously short matches compared to regular games

Now, ironically, Urf has much longer matches than normal and ranked games.

I just find that ironic.

Who told you that? I had urfs that ended with nexus blowing up around 10 min. Many of them end around 15 mins even without surrender.

At the same time i quite often have 30-40 min long normals. I even had 55 min game couple of days ago.

It's ARURF. Everything is random, to include game length.

is that true? if i had to guess why, waveclear/lane sustain are both much stronger.

to be honest i kinda wish most games of rift made it to at least 25 minutes

That and typically both sides have a pretty damn high chance to comeback given everyone is broken at all times.

that's only if it's an even matchup

Not exactly. Death timers hit 60+ way sooner in URF causing one mistake even by an OP team to spell instant defeat.

Blind/Draft queue usually takes 5+ min to find a match, and that seems obviously stupid. Ranked is a bit faster, and urf gives you an instant queue. I understand some people just stop playing league of legends when urf is closed since the normal/ranked is quite slow and less entertaining compared to urf(the gaming pace is much faster). Also, you will likely to have bronzes/silvers/golds even if you are in high elo which makes the queue time much shorter. What I don't understand is that the queue time of blind/draft is longer than ranked. I bet normals are absolutely far more than ranked matchups.

Lmao, I would GLADLY wait twice that time if he matchmaking were good.

redundant with the irony.

So do we have any statistics to back this up?

I had game lengths of about 20 minutes on average in URF, sometimes games lasting only up to 13-14 minutes because of one side pulling a lead.

Honestly it should be pretty obvious as to why this could be the case; in URF you can waveclear from a distance by spamming spells in the range of safety, where in a normal game you had cooldown and costs to worry about.

On a side note, I have potentially a ton of clips of the cheesy one shots that kept occuring because of predator/assassin champions.

what does that have to do with urf?

It was mostly made possible because of some champion's cooldowns being so low, Rengar's ultimate for example, having a 12 second cooldown or so. Predator boots had a 20 second cooldown or something like that, so that lead into "oh I failed to kill them the first time, I'll just wait out the predator cooldowns and try again."

But mostly the ult cooldown.

Lol okay, let's just dust off the fact that [AR] URF games have the tendency to end even at 8 mins.

URF games only last about 15 minutes on average. At most, for super back and forth games, it's 25. The average game length right now is 25 minutes for an average game.

Funny you should mention it - my URF games typically last 40 to 50 minutes... Granted one team will be at the other's base by the 20 minute mark, but that's when the waveclear fest truly begins, both teams group and the losing team overtakes the winning team in exp because they get to freely farm minions in their base.
