I Feel Urgot Could Be Just Fine If You Did These Two simple Things.

We all know Urgot is pretty underplayed, he's not very strong as well. His laning is pretty nice but you're so susceptible to ganks, so, I propose these 2 simple ways to fix him or at least bring him up to speed( Lets face it, anything will help right now).

  1. His q. I feel that if his q were to count as an auto attack like Gangplank's Gun, or Ezreal's q, it would open up so many items for him. Specifically two of them. He could build Trinity Force for kiting potential as well as chasing down potential. As well, he could build a Essence Reaver to deal with his mana problems as I feel this item should be perfect for him to counteract his mana problems. And If this would be to strong, you could always make it like Corki's ultimate and give you so many :)

  2. His shield. Right now, it is honestly a worthless move. The shield soaks up almost nothing, the slow is the only reason people use it. If they kite Urgot, they can break the shield with one or two moves (usually). And so, I'm suggesting this. How about, have urgot's slow, scale with his Armor/Magic Resist? That way, if the enemy does kite you, and breaks it, its offers counterplay. Because I can see what Riot means by Urgot doesn't have much counterplay. As well, it will promote Urgot's to build tanky Damage.

What do you guy's think? Do you guy's think this would at least bring him up to speed? :D

Urgot's kit is terribly unhealthy; when it's been at all powerful in the past, he's absolutely dominated, because he reduces enemy damage (passive), reduces their resists (E), increases his own resists (R), slows his enemies (W), and deals damage in such a way that it is unavoidable (Q+E). His enemies can do almost nothing to outplay him other than dodging his E, and getting too close to his turret can spell death in a way Shen never can. He desperately needs a rework, and the changes Riot is currently putting out are just to make him feel slightly less horrible to anyone playing him in the meantime.

I can definately see what you're saying, but these changes would be just to bring him up to date until the rework happens. Riot is so busy with other stuff such as sion and the 3 other reworks they're doing(Which are terribly uneeded besides the soraka rework). It wouldn't be hard to implement these changes in either, its just a suggestion, but don't you think this would make him viable once more?

I agree it would make him viable, but that's more or less the problem. I own Urgot, as well as a skin for him, and enjoy his kit's quirks, but I also understand that the game probably wouldn't be fun if his playrate started picking up. If you remember Olaf, pre-Gameplay Update, that's essentially Urgot's current situation. I'd prefer Riot stick to usability buffs, rather than power buffs. They have been considering mana scaling on his shield, and I'm sure they're moving as fast as they can on a rework, so maybe we'll end up with the best of both worlds.

I can see what you're saying, but I mean its just a buff to make him viable, at least until they get a rework on him :D Personally I would prefer if they didn't touch his model, I kinda like how he looks... It just wouldn't be the same ya know?

Mana scaling with his shield... huh... I actually like the idea of mana scaling :D

You're missing the point. If Urgot was 'viable', the game would become a mess because he'd have overbearingly dominating strength due to how his kit is designed.

Please, don't talk shit just because he isn't FotM. Riot allows in the game kits way more unhealthy

E+Q is toxic and unhealthy? It cannot be blocked? If a wall-blocking projectiles mechanic could exist, so could E+Q combo. E is a fairly slow projectile which can be dodged really easily. And above all, he is meant to be a LANE BULLY. Most of players tend to run away when hit by E but remaining in Q range. You should either get away form his Q range when debuffed by E or running in his face and punish him hard when he's still squishy in the early game. Urgot can be easily conterplayed and counterpicked, if you stubborns wanna keep playing your FotM against him and lose, it's your choice. Stop QQ and pick other champions

I‘ll just give you an example: Urgot in his kit has damage reduction, slow, a (miserable) shield, poke, armor reduction, hard cc (interruptable) and a defensive steroid Lee sin in his kit has aspd buff, energy return mechanic, poke, max health % dmg, 2 gap closers, a shield, AoE damage, AoE slow, true vision, lifesteal, spell vamp, burst damage and hard cc

I'm not QQing, I've just made an example. If you are going to say that urgot's kit offers too much compared to other league champions I'm gonna laugh hard in your face

TehNACHO1 votes

You're not justifying a toxic kit with more toxicity, are you?

And the FotM accusations...

AranciaMechanics1 votes

good lord... I even stated it BEFORE comparing kits: It's an exaple, I just said that there are kits which offers even less counterplay and are more way frustrating to play against. It's kinda hypocrite to blame urgot for having an "overbearingly dominating strength if he will be further buffed".

E is way more than dodgeable... but if it makes you cry Rito could add some delay like thresh's grab

ShadowParker1 votes

Unfortunately... I'm gonna have to agree with TehNACHO on this one... Lee Sin is pretty strong when used properly, but even him, you could counterplay, and if he misses that first q, you have a chance to escape.

Urgot on the other hand... Once you get hit by his e, there is no escape, you have to get out of the circle to survive, thats why I'm suggesting what I'm suggesting, to offer counterplay, because at this moment there really isn't any :/

Look at Zilean, you can't counterplay him, the second you go near you get a time bomb placed on you, you can't stop it whatsoever.

ShadowParker1 votes

Well I mean if you rework him with my suggestions(for the meantime). You could at least counterplay him, and he wouldn't be TOO strong

Conncept2 votes

Nope, needs a new ult. It's true that the ult is good, but it does not help his kit anymore than it would help anyone else's. You could take Summon Tibbers off Annie and replace it with Hyperkinetic Position Reverser and Annie would see play, but she would be thematically weaker and unfulfilling to play, just like Urgot is currently.

That ult needs to go on a character that it would work with and Urgot needs something that works with his own mechanics and theme.

ShadowParker3 votes

The thing is... I feel like his ult is what make Urgot, well urgot. No other charcter has that move, but I mean these changes are just until they rework him, it wouldnt be to hard to implement them in the meantime, and with the sion coming and all, this would bring him up to par wouldnt u say?

No. His ult makes no sense for the corpse of a brilliant warrior brought back to life through necromancy so many times that he just fell apart and had to be brought back by mechanical means. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR HIM TO TELEPORT HIMSELF OR OTHERS.

That ult would be a million times better on a fast champ that teleports all over the place as part of their kit.

Urgot needs an ult that makes him an interesting challenge to play - similar to Lucian. Where he gets a TON of damage, but only in one direction, and cannot retreat. Call it something like Last Advance, and basically, you would plow through the enemy line causing a ton of damage as you go, but you cannot change direction once you start, and cancelling it early would cause a debuff (or longer CD or something).

Something that still puts him in the thick of things, but creates interesting plays and counterplays.

ShadowParker1 votes

Hmm... I see what you're saying, I guess I never really looked at his lore to much, you're right though... I was just looking at the champion, not the backstory. But I don't want this ultimate gone... They have to at least put it on another champion.

Conncept1 votes

Well then conversely, you could change his other three abilities and he would at LEAST be mechanically resolved. But speaking lore-wise his issues will never be resolved with that ultimate. Urgot is meant to be a vengeance bent mecha undead killing machine, yet his ult is an almost completely passive crowd control/utility weapon. That's like a rampaging murderer that walks around with a tear gas gun.

ShadowParker1 votes

Yeah, but it's just a temporary fix, until they do get around to a rework this would help him, but to be honest I would prefer if his moves didn't change, I like his kit :( But unfortunately he definitely needs a rework :/

ShadowParker2 votes

I understand his kit is unhealthy... And he has no counterplay, but what if his q still locked on targets and has much much more range, but people/minions can intercept it? That way it has counterplay? And if you add in these changes that I put, what do you guys think? Would that solve him a bit?

Willahelm Fulber1 votes

The problem with the recommended change that his q could be blocked is, the way it's currently used now with the lock-on, people/minions would intercept it almost 100% of the time.

ShadowParker1 votes

Not necessarily, but I mean they added it in so you get 1/2 your mana back as well if you do kill a minion. It would take some skill, but I feel like if you knew how to use it well it wouldn't matter. Besides, it gives the ult more meaning this way, you can use it to set it up, as well if you're in the jungle you could use it, it would offer counterplay, it would just give the character so much more skill to learn seeing as this is the meta now apparently :P

Besides, if you could deny your opponent cs and freeze the lane- any time the opponent came near you could harass him like crazy, it would seperate the good urgot's from the bad ones.

A few major issues I run into while playing as Urgot are his AA range is soo short, I feel like Im two steps away from being a melee champ, and this is not good when trying to last hit or harass. His shield is indeed useless the slow is ok, but I only put one point in it so the slow isn't very strong, and his ult's rank one range isn't helping to achieve what it is meant to do.

ShadowParker1 votes

his aa is meant to be short haha, he already has tons of range with his e+q, and yeah, his shield is pretty much useless. And his ult is fine, if it was any larger it would be pretty crazy, it would be really easy to set up stuff, or just go on a kamikaze mission haha

I got to only try him once and yes that shield has no comparison to Shens. But it can come in handy. And works better if I have a item 3146. And I bet if they did number 1 like your asking then his second attack will be not as useful and need more power and a passive. I myself try to work around this when I can but wouldn't mind any of this in the least. I've found that he can be played easily like twitch down bot if you do it carefully.
