What can RIOT do if someone releases software that wraps league of legends?

Also, suppose the wrapper is a client to a server that compiles information about league of legends matches that take place on the clients.

Suppose the clients and the server cooperate to offer solo queue to the people that use the client, by leveraging the existence of "Custom games".

Do you think RIOT would remove Custom Games if something like this happened and it became prevalent enough to detract from dynamic queue?

I'm not saying its a likely event, or that even if someone did make a wrapper that there would be enough people using it to make any difference in the overall queue times. This is all hypothetical.

The people who created the software would probably get in legal trouble and it wouldn't last long

What kind of legal trouble though? I can't think of any laws that would actually apply here. Its totally fair use-- just software that uses other software.

A person still needs a valid league of legends account and client in order to even use the wrapper. If RIOT wanted to put a clause in their terms of service about not using a wrapper to the official client under penalty of permaban, they could, but there wouldn't be anything "illegal" about using the wrapper.

That doesn't make any sense. Trademark law has nothing to do with fair use law.
