Conservative nerfs/buffs. Please.

On the Patch 5.6 Rundown, there was a discussion between Zirene and Feralpony about the magnitude of buffs and nerfs, with Zirene arguing strongly that nerfs/buffs should be small, with champions getting nerfed/buffed over the course of several patches if need be. This would involve intentionally "undershooting" a bit on balance decisions. Feralpony pointed out that some changes sort of can't be small (e.g., the new jungle, new items) and generally seemed more upbeat about making big changes.

I want to contend that in almost all cases (basically everything that isn't a total rework), Zirene is absolutely right as far as champion balance is concerned. Too often, I think that Riot tries to get a champion's balance perfect in one fell swoop, leading to overly aggressive nerf/buff decisions (recent examples include Syndra, Azir, Kassadin). I'm OK with it if a champion I like takes several buffs over the course of months to get buffed to a point where they're actually good. I'm OK if a champion receives multiple small nerfs that slowly sap at their dominance but ultimately leave them playable. What feels horrible is when a champion you love gets dumpstered overnight. (This happens less often in the reverse direction, but permabans are kind of annoying, too.)

Patches 5.5 and 5.6 have been pretty good overall, making fairly marginal changes to champion balance that show up as changes of a few % in their win rates. (Introducing Cinderhulk was of course a bigger change, but I'm just talking about champion balance.) However, I'm concerned that going a few patches without any disastrous decisions may cause the balance team to revert to their old ways.

If you agree, please upvote so that hopefully Riot gets the message.
