@Meddler: Should vacuum effects on fighters ever be tied to a skillshot?

One of my Champion Concepts, Ebonmaw (you remember him, right?), has an ultimate that includes a vacuum effect, but it's tied to a skillshot. Here's a description of it excerpted from the concept topic (without numbers, because people hate numbers).

#Catastrophe Ebonmaw fires a skillshot in target direction. If it hits an enemy Champion, it vacuums in all enemies near the point of impact and deals physical damage to all enemies hit. The target that was directly struck is stunned.

If Catastrophe does not hit an enemy before reaching the end of its range, it still explodes and deals physical damage, but does not stun or vacuum.

The thing is, Ebonmaw is meant to be a dive-type fighter who jumps into a brawl and then rips up everything around him, kinda like Renekton, Aatrox, or Shyvana.

What I want to know is, would it be more appropriate if his ultimate were more like Malphite's instead of a skillshot? Or is a skillshot-vacuum okay?
