Step 1: I consume an entire box of my favorite cereal...

Step 2: I start the LoL client.

Step 3: I enter the MM queue.

Step 4: I pick an random champion.

Step 5: As soon as the game starts I type /all BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE FOOOD FOR THE FOOD TRUCK!

Step 6: I go on an suicidal homicidal frenzy in order to farm minion aurum.

Step 7: I invest my aurum in attack speed, damage, and leech.

Step 8: I die an dozen times or more.

Step 9: Either we win or we lose, the results are random.

Step 10: Repeat as needed.

And here are my findings...

Ashe isn't really good for this because of her initially slow attack speed and a lack of an godd escape.

Azir is good for being an living roadblock with his sand soldiers...and that's it.

As for Bard I spent most of the game exploring the jungle in hopes on an massive exp gain, but I was disappointed.

Braum: Let's see...Deadweight W, with an shield for E, plus an satisfying ult, and an icy projectile for his Q. I also didn't enjoy his low damage output.

There's nothing terribly wrong with Caitlyn, but it was an rather boring experience with her.

Chogath can't stay alive to keep his health stacks.

Darius is fun to me, but I need to play him again to justify my opinion.

As much fun as I had with Draven, he was mostly had an niche killstealing role that I couldn't capitalize on.

It turns out that I built Galio the wrong way. As such, he couldn't too much of anything but punch, flap his wings, and turn himself into an time bomb.

Garen is boring, but practical for this.

I had an lot fun with Graves, I have no regrets playing him.

I couldn't really control Hecarim and I'm not exactly what sure the undead centaur is good for.

Heimerdinger is kind of squishy in mid, but I managed to make him hit hard though.

Jinx is awesome to play and she also the closest champion to my personality.

Khazix evolve mechanic and his stealth buff didn't really agree with me.

KogMaw is cute, cuddly, and is quite enjoyable. I just want to see if Riot will add his father to the game.

MasterYi fun to troll the enemy with.

Kassadin is shit: Can't stay alive long enough to be useful, nor can he deal any good damage.

Nasus is kinda ok because of his Q and ult, but I haven't figured out what his W does.

Lux Zilean and Warwick: I didn't really like these 3 mainly because I wasn't really going anywhere with there damage output, nor are they good for staying alive.

And finally, Shen is good for popping out of nowhere and spamming his Q, but I haven;t found anyhing else that he's good at.

And now it's your turn. Since I'm obviously bad at this game, are there any champions that are good at staying alive while dealing out obscene amounts of damage?

An summary of how I lay LoL and my experiences with the Champions that I've played so far. Needless to say, I'm bad at this game and I want some advice for picking an champion who's good at staying alive.

That depends on what you are trying to play. Top? Jungle? Mid? Generally people with defensive stats and abilities survive more. Champions like Any tanks, Bruisers, Peel based champions, or having Escapes. You might feel more comfortable being a tank or champion with a great escape, but it call comes down to game knowledge and how you play with that champion and adapt the the situation. So champions like Garen, Maokai, Cho have great defensive stats and steriods to keep them alive but you cant just go in all willy nilly with them. Paying attention to how fights start/fail/succeed is a good way to learn, as well as learning all of the possible mechanics of your champion, build paths and tips to use them effectively. Pick a role, find a champion with either durability/peel/escape and look up on youtube how to play them to get an in depth.

I basically play mid or top, but the free champion rotation is giving me hell lately when it comes to finding some who can stay alive in enemy/neutral territory for an while without dying.

Play Garen Darius Chogath DrMundo Maokai Volibear Malphite Top lane. Garen and Darius deal the most damage if that is what you are looking for but all of these champions are very tanky, can survive a lot and all you need to do is build items with HP generally speaking. But look up guides/pro builds on how to effectively build your champion and generally if you are going against magic damage buy MR and physical buy Armor then make sure you have a good mix of the two with a Large amount of HP. Tanky guy with CC that builds resistances = you should be fine unless they are fed.

For mid lane I would play Ahri Annie Lulu Veigar Ziggs Xerath Some of them arent mobile but usually have some sort of long range ability to farm with as well as a CC to use if they are in trouble. But mid lane is not easy at all it is a very aggressive lane with ganks coming left and right, it is all about mechanical skill and trying to bully and beat your laner, though these are some of the most effective laners at staying back and farming if you wanna stay alive and fight with your team later on.
