To all the people who are currently discussing leaver/afk problems

It's not like riot just sits on their ass all day without considering the current problems. This is a large competitive sport based company that strives to expand the professional Esports scene of their game and build their game around it. This also applies to normal ranked as to insure of future for their game they want more and more players to one day become the next LCS Stars, so making ranked as stable of a place for learning is one of their biggest goals.

If this issue was as easy as riot just popping an idea out of their asses and implementing it then it would've already been done, but the unfortunate fact is is that it's not that simple.

Go search the boards and you'll find hundreds of posts suggesting possible systems to put in place to compensate for AFK's, Troll's, and people who out right left but for every suggestion there's always dozens of ways for those possible systems to be exploited and abused.

No matter what system you come up with there's almost always going to be some way to exploit it which is why all you can do is bare with it.

Very well said. There is no cure-all for this. No matter what, someone who didn't deserve to be punished by the systems people try to come up with will get themselves in a mess. If there was a quick-fix for this, anyone could do it.

But before anyone says 'But in order for A to happen in my solution, they'd need to meet this requirement B.' If there is a 1% chance it COULD be exploited, that is 1 in every 100 people who would get unjustly hurt by that system. Considering sources say 27MILLION people play daily, that means 27,000 are getting hit by this. THAT IS NOT A SMALL NUMBER!

In game design, you have to try to account for such things. It may seem small when you just look at raw percentages, but if you actually calculate it out, the price is too large. And that's in the BEST CASE SCENARIO! Guess what? Its unlikely going to be best case. You have to account for the worst case, and hope for the best. And make the best as small as possible. If the price is too high, scrap it and go back to the drawing board.

I hope this adds a little bit to the conversation. I see this stuff all the time, and while I see some that have some 'interesting' ideas in chunks, the whole of the systems they propose are too shaky. So I am really glad to see someone outright saying it for everyone to hopefully see.

I want to know your way of exploiting my system.

And If they really were sitting around thinking about ways of solving this problem, they might have made an attempt by now. But its been years and the problem is just as bad now as it ever has been. I don't believe that riot cares about anything other than LCS. And it isnt non LCS ranked that keeps LCS alive. Its money. Its people watching the LCS. It's people supporting riot with money or ads. We don't get responded to, paid attention to, or helped unless we hit pro circuit. And that is crap.

Easy. I am in my promos, I ask my good friend to que with me so that if things go south he voluntarily d/cs so I can avoid the loss, cancel the other team's win. that is six people hurt, and four people who, just go net neutral in a game. You could even duo consitently and just do this all the time to mitigate any kind of loss(riskier due to leaver buster system).

(funny, this kind-of encourages people skipping out on games)

If you are in your promos and your friends ques up with you and disconnects, YOU get a loss and so does he. Everyone else besides the two of you get loss prevented.

And the likelyhood of you and your buddy queing at the same time but not pre-made and getting into the same game is so low that its not worth mentioning. And even if the .0000000001% chance that it happens, it would happen so infrequently to be a huge positive change to our current situation.
