The problem with Ahri isn't her damage but her mobility.

As someone who has played Ahri since S4 preseason (when she was a subpar pick) I find these nerfs to aimed at the wrong areas.

New Ahri does far less damage then 5.1 Ahri, the W damage and E damage buffs do not in any way make up for the loss of her E amp and DFG loss. Her damage is strong at the moment but you will seldom 100-0 anyone unless ridiculously fed (which is the same for most mages).

**The bigger issue to address is her new safety in both the laning phase and teamfights. **

Her Q mobility is the problem you should address, new Ahri excels because she is a roaming/teamfight/laning monster. 3 dashes and a huge movement boost allow her to be a very forgiving champion and the removal of the Charm mechanic (one that actually required skill but god forbid we can't have that) are major factors in her winrate rising. Before the Q change, Ahri was very, very weak when her ult was down but nowadays the same window of opportunity doesn't exist (it still does but with the correct kiting build and good use of your Q it shouldn't be a problem).

Rather then nerf her damage a better method would be to address some of that free mobility. Don't give her the MS boost for free. Think about something like this.

Remove her boost from her Q and shift to a mark like system (think Katarina/Lucian/Akali).

Fox-Fire RANGE: 800 COST: 50 MANA COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 **PASSIVE: Hitting an enemy with Foxfire marks them for 3 seconds, the mark can be detonated with Ahri's Orb of Deception to grant her 30% movement speed that decays over 3 seconds. **

ACTIVE: Ahri summons three spectral flames, which orbit her for up to 5 seconds. After a brief delay, each flame will target the closest visible enemy, prioritizing champions then the target of Ahri's last basic attack, dealing magic damage upon hit. Multiple flames can hit a single target, but each flame beyond the first will only deal 30% damage.

The gates her mobility behind 2 abilities, meaning she's less safe now but still maintains her kite mage status. Gate her mobility and her winrate will drop.

Upvote please, gutting Ahri is not the right idea.

Or do we want more of these guys in the midlane?

If you take away the freely available movespeed on q she will be strictly weaker in every way than before she lost both charm and dfg.

Weird, I didn't realize that Charm no longer charms, or that it's not a skillshot anymore.

Good idea. +1

Just a question: the current Ahri is getting around 90% movepseed decaying down to around 30% while the orb is in the air, just to put some context into how much movement speed she's actually getting. This would be a pretty hefty nerf in terms of the speed the orb actually grants assuming it hits the target. Do you think it's necessary?

Personally I don't feel she's OP even with her current winrate but obviously people are struggling against her and Riot wants her nerfed. I think yeah if you look at it this way, the Q movement speed buff keeps her safe when her ult is down and removes one of pre-5.2 Ahri's biggest weaknesses. Nerfing that will definitely keep her in line in my mind.

I mean she lost damage technically from 5.1 Ahri, I doubt those QoL buffs would give her 5-6% more winrate in Diamond for example. The Q MS buff is the biggest factor.

Yea honestly she is too safe right now, she gets free harass with no fear of being retaliated against since she can just sprint away and if you happen to get close she has 3 dashes in addition to her move speed boost. Her damage is not as high anymore but that doesn't mean anything if you cant trade with her, you basically just take damage all lane until she can finally all in you.

I liked how they were moving her from burst assassin mage to kite mobility mage but i feel they made it too safe.

I dont play Ahri, she is just not that fun to lane against right now.
