Wacky Zyra Idea

This just popped into my head one day. I was wondering why the embodiment of nature's wrath...isn't...in nature. AKA the jungle. I mean, it is literally in her lore that she was born in the Kumungu Jungle.

Centuries ago, she and her kind dominated the Kumungu Jungle, using thorns and vines to consume any animal that set foot in their territory. As the years passed, the animal population steadily died off. Food became increasingly scarce, and Zyra could only stand by helplessly as the last of her kind withered away.

Why isn't she geared for the jungle? Apparently her species is pretty badass in the jungle. but...she isn't really that great in game. She can actually have some really powerful clearing speed but only when she has a seed or two to tank/damage for her. A simple change to her kit would make her a great jungle champion:

Rampant Growth PASSIVE: Zyra permanently has cooldown reduction and stores a seed periodically, up to a maximum of 2 stored at once. Killing a large jungle monster generates 1 seed.

Bam, she can go into the jungle with this. This would probably be a pretty potent power shift for her but I don't think it would require a grand rework or anything just some small tweaks for her ganking power.

This is just some of my random thoughts. I for one would love to see her power shift into the jungle instead of being in lane. Don't get me wrong I think she is already pretty fun but i think she would be a more meaningful ally/enemy in the jungle.

That...is awesome! Thank you for the link. I like playing Zyra but often feel she is too limited in lane. I'm going to be studying what he does cause I love the idea of Zyra Jungle. I'm kind of excited to try it out. :) (Still want Zyra buffs though :P)

There are a couple other things she needs. Firstly, she should revive if she kills someone with her passive. Secondly, her plants need to be more durable (if you want to make her jungle).

Yes she needs a new/buffed passive but that isn't what this thread is about. (+1 for a desire for Zyra passive buffs though! <3)

As to her plants needing to be more durable...well I've experimented a bit with her in the jungle. The trick is to juggle the aggro a bit before letting your plants just tank it up. As I mentioned she only needs a seed or two to really survive the jungle. She struggles the most taking the raptors (at level 2) but everything else she can handle early with seeds. She comes out pretty healthy when you do it right the only problem now is a lack of seed generation. I've played her a few times in support role and even as a support she can wreck an enemy jungle camp in moments with 2 seeds (side note she works really well as a Soraka counter, so much burst). You should see her take on Dragon too! It's scary how much damage she deals with her plants backing her up. If a good player couldn't get a full clear with her with this change I'd eat my keyboard.

If you read her lore it says Zyra cannot be reborn or something . . . I need to reread it. I am positive it says the life she stole from the one woman is the only one she has left.

Here is her lore, not a lot to it. She's one of those champions with a lot of mystery.

Longing to take control of her fate, the ancient, dying plant Zyra transferred her consciousness into a human body for a second chance at life. She thought she would perish alone, until the appearance of an unwary sorceress presented her with an opportunity for salvation.

It was the first time in years Zyra had sensed a creature wander so close. Hunger drew her to the sorceress, but some other, deeper instinct compelled her. She enveloped the woman in thorns with ease, but as she savored this final meal, foreign memories invaded her thoughts. She saw great jungles of metal and stone where humans and animals thrived. Potent magic surged through her vines, and she devised an elegant but risky plan to survive. Using the woman’s memories, Zyra poured her newfound magic into the creation of a human-shaped vessel. She didn’t know what sort of world awaited her, but she had nothing left to lose. When Zyra opened her eyes, she was overwhelmed by the raw power ready at her fingertips. It wasn’t until she noticed the shriveled remains of the plant she once was that she realized how vulnerable she had become. If this body died, there would be no network of vines to retreat through, no roots to regrow her...but she felt truly alive. She beheld the world for the first time as animals did, and a dark smile crept across her lips. She was reborn, and there was so much now within her grasp.

The idea to make it so if you kill someone with passive you revive is stupid. I used to play a ton of jungle Zyra but than runeglaive.... I still try to sometimes and this would be really helpful albeit Zyra clear is alright imo

Zyra jungle is actually already viable. Just a little... weird. It's fun, though I haven't tried it myself this season.
