So who builds ER anymore?

ER was changed to a crit item (I can't remember if it wasn't always one actually) that gave both CDR and mana returned based on your crit stat. This was because it was the goto AD caster ADC item since crit was their universal stat (MF's ult was reworked to crit even).

Though with the armor pen and now lethality builds on these AD caster marksmen (who are also lane bullies) becoming more common place, I have to wonder if there is a point to having ER in its current state.

Riot, if you balance AD casters around lethality, please change ER from a crit item.

Ashe still benefits from it nicely from what I've seen because of how CDR affects her ult. Sivir is the other one that comes to mind. Since neither are really needed right now; the items isn't seen often. I would say though; it's a good item on utility ADCs

I still like to build it on jhin for 100% crit builds, it decimates the late game and the cdr helps with his w/ult picks.

PD IE SHIV leaves me with 80% Crit. I build ER to make it 100. Marksmen could go Runaans and overcap 10%, because the only other option is to go RFC + Shiv, but those 2 don't stack.

Even if I wanted to make my laningphase that awful... You'd need a full crit chance page to get 20%. There's no way that's worth it. In any possible way.

Isn't 70% crit usually the better path because you can get more flat AD to get amped up?

That's what I thought until I lost one game too many from missing a crit at a critical 😏 moment

Although Essence Reaver does give as much AD as infinity edge. I finish out with more AD than most ADCs

I used to build it on Sivir and Varus, but these days I just take a Tear and cash it in when I want my 5th or 6th item. It costs too much for what you get. I NEED it early game, but all it does is stunt me. Tear resolves the mana issue, costs less than 800g and allows me to get through the laning phase without being constantly mana starved.

I sometimes buy it for my 6th.

PD is still a great item on Ashe, Varus(if not going lethality build), Jhin, Sivir, Cait. The list goes on. ER is still a great item. But lethality is just everywhere now.

I find value in it for the CDR. I've never really been a fan of building around armor pen as is (even though I should if I want to improve as a player better). But my champion pool of options has actually reduced for using the item. If I'm not going for 40% CD or 80-100% crit, I'm not really building it. I think the last time I built it was on Garen for a "lawnmower" AD build and that was just for having that bonus CD.
