Tormentula1 votesThat's why if you don't trust using the categories, you can just search for the champion. I think you can also toggle off by clicking that category twice if i'm not mistake.

LostFr0st2 votes! They added them <3 So happy. Those "hieroglyphs" are the champ categories, and they have been around for a long time. Most people know what they mean and those that don't should learn.

Fist with twin Sabers: Fighters (Garen, Aatrox, Xin Zhao, etc.) Hammer in Shield: Tanks (Poppy, Sion, Maokai, etc.) Open Book w/ Flame: Mages (Azir, Syndra, Ahri, etc.) Hood w/ Mask: Assassins (Talon, Fizz, Rengar, etc.) Winged Staff: Supports (Taric, Sona, Blitzcrank, etc.) Crossbow: Marksmen (Lucian, Miss Fortune, Ashe, etc.)

Myrmiron1 votesWhen you have 8 seconds left looking for the right combination of tools in a 10x10 icon becomes a rather difficult task. EVERYONE can understand letters, so it makes no sense to me why they would use those dumb ass icons instead. It's the same as with the rune pages when they tried to display the stats they gave you by icons instead of words.
Umbral Regent1 votesAnd why exactly are you waiting for the last eight seconds until you pick your Champion? You have thirty seconds, waiting until the last 10-8 seconds to do anything is pretty dumb and, if you panic and click the wrong thing? Well, that's on you.
Yes, everyone can understand letters, but nobody's going to understand immediately what "F", "T", "M", "A", "S", "M" means - especially because two of them begin with M. It's much easier to use icons that can actually be learned and understood than to use letters.
Further, if you don't like the icons, rather than griping about it, how's about you come up with an idea that's better? Something that people would all unequivocally understand and would make the Champion Select process a whole lot easier?
Myrmiron1 votesI was swapping with my first pick and our third pick accidentally picked Skarner, so our first pick had to go mid lane which only was clear after some communicating around, and then he had to tell me the champion he wanted me to pick for him. I WOULD have picked earlier, but, you know, shit happens. As for something that's better and universally understandable, by letter I actually meant multiple letters in a row aka words. ALL FIGHTER TANK MARKSMAN ASSASSIN SUPPORT MAGE easily fits in the big empty space next to the unintuitive icons and should work for 99.99% of human beings older than 12. ALL would be the button you click if you want to have ALL champions displayed to you.
Edit: Maybe give it the rune page treatment and pack them in a drop down menue if the space is too tight.
