@Meddler & @Reav3s Splash Art Updates & New Skins Solve No Problems With Karma

Winterkill··18 votes·741 views

Let's be really honest here and talk about the elephant in the room. Are the splash art updates and new skins solving the problems with Karma? No, they are not. She still has no character, her kit is all over the place, Karma's lore is still bland, she has no clear weaknesses, no one knows who she is, almost all parts of her kit is something else currently in the game, her visual update and skins reflecting the new splash art she received do not reflect what she should be, and just . . . . so much that you continue to ignore and put a theoretical bandaid over.

Your teams are aware of the problems with this champion for years now and nothing has been done about it. If you want Karma to be this battlemage/enchanter hybrid, then she should reflect that. Karma is currently a poor representation of what you are actually trying to accomplish. Her kit is all over the place and makes no sense. A battle mage is defined, by you, as a mage who goes into the middle of the fray, seeking to wreak havoc upon the entire enemy team with their overwhelming sustained area damage. Due to their relatively short (but not melee) combat ranges and the need to burn down their opponents over time, Battle Mages have significant defensive capabilities that range from sustaining endlessly to literally defying death for a short period of time. Is that being correctly represented by Karma? No, it is not.

People can argue till the end of time but the problem with Karma is that her current kit lacks a clear direction of what she is supposed to be doing because a lot of it doesn't really reflect what she is supposed to be doing. Karma is an Enchanter-Battlemage-Burstmage-Artillery-Disruptor and really isn't good at one single class . . . . her kit is a mixture of all different types of classes. It's hard for anyone to judge a champion and give a identity to a champion that you cannot even decide who she is supposed to be. It's hard to judge what Karma's flaws are because she has no clear strong/weak-points in her current kit. You either build shield enhancing items to sit in the back and mass shield everyone or you build full AP and hope that you can do just enough damage to kill someone.

As it has been said for years now, do you know what you want Karma to be? She doesn't necessarily need a VGU that you keep telling us about. She needs for you to give a care and take the time to really dissect what is wrong with her current kit and change it so it reflects what she is supposed to be doing. The art team is working their behinds off to make changes but you have had 4 years to do anything and you have done nothing. Her kit needs to actually reflect something and it needs to be more unique. Is that so hard for you to do?

It's funny how this is exactly what old Karma was like and they completely erased that playstyle from her. At this point, people don't play her not because she's weak or hard to play, but horrendously boring to play. She was still kind of fun with Shield Bomb shenanigans and still SOME trace of a battlemage playstyle, but since they removed that too she's a complete bore.

She was removed just before the assassin meta hit, when she was a ridiculous anti-assassin pick on midlane, just on a time when mid was dominated by long range mages.

Interesting... decision.

An Enlightened*... decision. I miss that quote so much you don't even know.

Riot knows Karma's issues very well, they've just chosen to band-aid her until an opportunity arises for her to be reworked. We just have to wait for an Enchanter update since she's not weak or obnoxious enough to warrant a rework right now. We know Riot haven't done a good job on Karma and they know it too, just have to be patient, sadly.

What Karma needs:

  • An interesting & cohesive passive
  • An ultimate that is about meaningful decisions, rather than repetitive enhancment
  • More abilities that can be used offensively/defensively or on enemies/friends
  • A rioter that cares about making her "good" instead of "fine"

What Karma doesn't need:

  • More shield buffs
  • Longest root in the game
  • Tank scalings
  • Having her damage sweet spot at max range
  • Having unique features taken away and given to other champions

One thing I hate about her play style is that it is just so bland

Karma mid R Q

Karma support R E

Yes she might do a shit gonna of damage or shield the entire team but it gets boring as that is all you do.

Imo she needs to be reworked to be a dedicated support or midlaner

There's no reason she couldn't be good at both. In fact, being good at both is pretty core to her. The biggest issue she has now is being a 1-trick pony in 3 positions, as you pointed out; RQ for mage (mid), RE for support and RW for tank (top). She never has optimal use of all of her Mantras wherever she goes. Once that's properly addressed she'll be good both mid and support.

You mean, optimal use of all 3 Matras like old karma had?

:^)

I never played old Karma, I joined after the rework. But, apparently old Karma never used RW. In general though, I think she did a better job scaling with ap than she does now.

She sure did.

To get faster back to lane (tether minion), to chase someone as a duo, it was her best tool to CC a target, so her team could catch up,.... and slowing an enemy for 40% while getting a boost for 40% yourself was an easy way of kiting/getting away from someone.

That makes sense, I guess the people on here who say she never used it, never played her to begin with then.

This is basically the rule when speaking about old karma. If someone tells you ''but she was useless/unbalanceable/bad/boring'', its out of ignorance and riot whiteknighting.

It's disgusting, it's like they're trying to justify Riot deleting Karma

There is so much missinformation being spread about her. It pains me, whenever I have to read it.

It's like the people who say Karma never used her shieldbomb after her rework, so they didn't care that it was removed.

...

I should get back to writing posts about her.

I think you should lol. Can't let the people forget about Karma.

It was the game's best team speed up. 6s cd 5 s duration.

It wasnt used early, but that was easily fixeable by making it a one point wonder, and even there, it was a massive teamwide haste buff when used correctly.

Voluug131 votes

Also, it was pretty good for cc when you needed to set up a gank when solo.

In any case, she could always use RW effectively, it was a problem of scaling that was easily fixeable.

True. I'd love to see an updated version of her old tether return tbh.

In other words, a Gameplay update? Although I agree with your points, the unfortunate thing is, Karma's kit, while being bland and jack-of-all-trades, has no real issues in it. Or at least no pressing ones, unlike Evelynn, the assassin who has more dps abilities and diving abilities than assassinating ones, Galio, who failed at being a mage, and was not very good at being a tank(and had a speed up ability that stopped him from moving), Urgot whoever this person is supposed to be, and a few others(Poppy tank assassin for one). That would be why it has taken 4 years to get back to her, for while her kit is uninspiring(despite having inspire in it), it isn't unmanageable. Actually, as far as gameplay strength goes, it's rather good.

I love her and her kit :)
