If you're rushing Chalice, do you need flat MR glyphs for it to have any real effect?

Whenever I rush a Chalice of Harmony as Lux or some other mid-lane mage, it feels like the 25 MR does absolutely nothing, or even at times that I'm taking MORE damage than before (even if that's just a perception thing). I normally don't go with flat MR glyphs on her, instead going AP/lvl.

Are those flat MR blues required to have that Chalice rush actually work in terms of reducing magic damage meaningfully? Or is Chalice rush a complete trap altogether?

MR glyphs will help, it won't be a have all end all though. AP/level will also increase the size of your shield which is what you should be using when you get damaged as Lux. If I were you I'd start thinking about leveling W second.

I do level W second, but this is during the level 1-7 range. Past that point, MR on squishy mages tends to do nothing at all.
