Why are you slapping Evelynn mains in the face on the PBE?

InSingedWeTrust··55 votes·4,796 views

Evelynn Shadow Walk (Passive) now regenerates 2% of her missing mana every second up from 1% maximum mana.

Like... that does nothing to address ANY of her current issues. I'm not even an Evelynn main and this change annoys me.

Yea, she is in need of a full on rework again if you want my opinion... They completely screwed her kit because of how OP AP Evelynn was, just rework her again...

Chromatic Eagle5 votes

Screw rework. She needs that Sion relaunch.

FyshinaTux2 votes

pretty much a rework yea...

Chromatic Eagle3 votes

I mean from her model, gameplay, and lore, pretty much everything needs a revamp.

FyshinaTux2 votes

OH, including model and all that... I thought you just meant how the made Sion a completely different champion. :P

Yes, I agree with that.

They need to pick, is she a bruiser? or is she an assassin? Pick one, and SCRAP ANYTHING that RESEMBLES the other.

Waldaer1 votes

Well this is your opinion. I was horrified when i found this. Evelynn in need of rework? Are you kidding me!

The jungle has changed, adapt to it, or here is another idea. Pick up something else. It took me some time to get used to it but i fell it is okay now, Riot did a good job balancing the jungle, finally we can see more diversity Than just Eve Lee sin and elise, who was kings of S4. Finally eve is not perma banned. Finally she lost popularity. Finally the good evelynn players can shine and the bad fail.

The changes to the pbe looks more like quality of life changes to me than buffs. E will now proc red buff (no aa needed) massive improvement Mana regen passive increased to 2% meeh she shoundt even have that passive to begin with its a chalice of harmony passive right of the bat. Riot is not nerfing they are tweaking.

Personally i think you miss the ap eve 1 shot days......which like ended like a year ago (was like playing tetris)

Leave her alone mate, if you don't have the skill to tame her. :P

FyshinaTux6 votes

Honestly, I don't miss the old 1-shot AP eve days shortly after her rework. I do, however, think that making her main damage spell physical damage, cutting her ratios, nerfing her ult to literal unusable status, and making her passive what it is now, was a REALLY stupid choice on Riot's part.

She's a bloody assassin, what other assassin do you know that has their main damage spell being the damage type that they don't build for? Imagine Talon's Q being magic damage, or Zed's ult, or having Fizz's damage be split so Q was only magic, W was split, and E was physical, what about Ahri? Imagine if her Q or ult were physical damage.

Start making sense to you?

She's an assassin, she started getting played in the jungle because the jungle was TOO EASY, and she had a lot of bad matchups mid after some nerfs.

She belongs in midlane (guess what, you can roam just as well from mid as you can from jungle), and she can't play in mid or jungle in any reliable manner right now.

She needs a rework.

The5lacker1 votes

Dude if Talon's Q was magic damage then enemies couldn't build Armor to counter one of his main sources of damage.

Hybrid damage has always been and will always be a boon, not a curse. It doesn't matter what type of damage you deal. It matters what stat you scale on, and Eve has always scaled on both.

FyshinaTux3 votes

If Talon's Q did magic damage, 1 MR item would suffice to kill his damage, considering he'd HAVE to build a void staff (COMPLETELY wasted on Talon) in order to do damage. Get real.

The5lacker1 votes

[deleted]

FyshinaTux2 votes

And you lack reading comprehension... I said ONE. MR. ITEM.

See, the operative word there is ITEM.

The5lacker1 votes

Notice you lack anything to refute anything else I said. Because everything else I said was right. A single MR item would not ruin Talon's damage. Do you want to know why?

Physical damage ignores MR. So not only would the rest of his kit be completely unaffected by that single MR item purchase (which puts the enemy back around 2600 or so), but even more importantly, that single MR item? Doesn't grant Magic Immunity. So even if it bumps a champion's MR up to, say, 100MR, that still only halves the damage of a single one of his abilities.

Now lets take the flip side. Lets say the enemy, seeing Talon still deals primarily physical damage, builds Armor. Lets say...200 Armor. Reasonable for most tanks or fighters to hit. Now lets say Talon builds a Void Staff. Void Staff grants 35% Armor Pen. We all understand this, yes? 35%. Little over 1/3rd. So that means, against Talon, the enemy would functionally have around 130 Armor.

That's still less effective Armor than effective MR. That means even with Void Staff, Magic damage is still more effective against that target. If you're fighting someone with 200 Armor and 100 MR, and you had the choice between a Void Staff and an item that converts all of the damage you deal into magic damage, the magic damage item would increase your damage more than the Void Staff. This is just basic math. I know it must be hard for you in elementary school to wrap your head around percentages, but try it before you make your innane statements like "A single MR item counters all magic damage a champion deals!"

FyshinaTux1 votes

That has gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

If they changed Talon's Q (his BIGGEST burst) to magic damage, it would effectively HALF his actual damage.

"WHY?" you might ask? Simple.

You build MR, and you cut his Q damage unless he builds Magic Pen (Pro Tip: Void Staff doesn't cut through ARMOR.) On the flip side of this, if you build Armor (which is cut through by LAST WHISPER), then you reduce the rest of his damage.

Changing his Q to being Magic damage would effectively gut is playability.

All that aside, some issues with your post:

  • My last post was 5 days ago, not because I have nothing to refute your drivel, but because I saw no basis in your argument that required any refuting

  • You're right, a single MR item only cuts the damage of his BIGGEST NUKE (also an auto attack reset...) by half

  • Yea, Void Staff cuts through MR, not Armor...

  • If the enemy builds Armor, he still has his auto attack resetting nuke because they didn't build MR

  • Perhaps you should go back to elementary school so you can learn what "inference" is, because what my post was implying was that building MR would cut his damage by enough that he'd be useless (even if only 1 MR item was built)

Get over yourself sir, I'm likely older than you are, and if you keep arguing like this, you won't have a chance of winning (not that you have a chance of winning anyway considering you're wrong.)

The5lacker1 votes

Because as we all know the instant the enemy buys a single armor item Talon no longer does any damage.

Oh, wait. No. No that's not how that works, as Armor is a %Damage reduction with functionally diminishing returns, and even if Talon has a Last Whisper, that only negates 35% of that Armor.

You know what's really dumb? Rambling for over 6 paragraphs of space without having any understanding of basic game mechanics like Armor and MR. For example, did you know that Armor and MR function in exactly the same way?

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Armor http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Magic_resistance

Look at that. Exact same calculationg when it comes to damage mitigation. That means, that, again, if an enemy has 200 Armor and 100 MR, and Talon has a Last Whisper, magic damage is still more effective against that target. Because unlike you, I have basic math skills. I know how percents work. 35% Armor Pen is not 100% Armor Pen. That's not how numbers work. And a 35% reduction in 200 drops it to 130, which is still (gasp) larger than 100, which means physical damage is going to be (gasp) less effective than magic damage against such a target.

You keep calling me dumb while having nothing of value to contribute to the conversation. You don't understand how anything in the game works.

Now, lets see you explain how 100 MR is stronger than 130 Armor.

FyshinaTux1 votes

See? Now you're not even reading what I type anymore.

The reason that Armor doesn't do much against Talon, is because his build literally consists of 3-4 Armor Pen items, 3 of which have flat pen on them.

Now, for the one part that you seem to be missing the most in this conversation. If his Q was magic damage, the only options he would have to cut through the Magic Resist you buy are COMPLETELY wasted on him (what with his AMAZING AP ratios and all...). Which means that ANY MR you DO BUY, will STICK. He won't cut through ANY of that with a Magic Pen item.

Onward. If you see a Talon buying hella Armor Pen, it's actually better to buy Health, since his AD will be relatively low, than it is to buy armor.

Now, if you put all that together, and Talon's Q did magic damage, then suffice it to say that building one MR item and possibly a health item (owait, those stats come together :D ) would be more than enough to erase Talon's BIGGEST NUKE. Not to mention if the Talon builds the way Talon builds now, his Armor Pen won't be doing much since you got health.

Again, your arguments are seeming half-hearted and childish at best. Just stop.

FyshinaTux1 votes

{quoted} You keep calling me dumb while having nothing of value to contribute to the conversation. You don't understand how anything in the game works.

Pretty big words coming from a Bronze II to a Gold V.

{quoted}

Now, lets see you explain how 100 MR is stronger than 130 Armor.

Completely irrelevant, considering I never said that 100 MR is stronger than 130 Armor, you're fabricating "facts" that are irrelevant to try proving your own argument, while completely ignoring mine.

But, since you seem adamant about this, here you got:

100 MR is stronger than 130 Armor if the enemy team is consisted completely of Magic Damage Dealers.

The reason for this, is that more than 95% of their damage will be mitigatable by your MR, while only 5% is affected by armor.

Now gtfo.

Eve The Ripper7 votes

Seems pretty sideways to me. Better when under half mana, worse when above...so it probably restores more mana total by a small margin.

It's not like that part of her passive is much use anyway.

Nagoh Shan2 votes

It's Asymptotic so less overall, but more early.

She get's mana faster when she needs it, I.E unable to cast, but will take longer to 0%-100% than the old version would take.

Done256 votes

I think these changes will actually help her out. The passive tweak lets her recharge faster from empty, and Ravage now.goes quite nicely with on hit.

I'm thinking devourer, wit's end, manamune. Devour gets her jungle rolling, wit's boosts her devour, manamune gives her the mana and AD she needs. Her Ravage is going to be dealing around 800~1000 damage come late game.

kitcat3004 votes

I was smashing people with item 3710 and item 3091 before devourer got nerfed. Although since ravage procs on-hits twice, this will be a nice power spike.

bork AND devourer, it's obvious that eve can't be balanced around trying to instagib champions so riot will keep pushing her into a bruiserish build where she can sneak into a good position and do a lot of damage over time. warrior will still probably be better for her since she wants a bigger power spike earlier, but if you get some combination of warrior, bork, or triforce with some durability you should be much more useful to your team than if you still tried to stack AP and then cry when riot still doesn't let you burst people from 100-0 when they've only been able to see you for 0.5 seconds.

So you think they want to push her into an AS bruiser? Wow that sucks. I don't think her stealth can warrant that ever.

her stealth is the reason i think they'll do it. she, more than any champion in the game, can easily get into a great position at the start of a fight, and the only way she doesn't is through pink wards which have a higher gold and opportunity cost. if that's on an assassin who can blow up a squishy there's no way to balance it, but on someone who provides decent counterplay opportunities during a fight it can still be fun for both sides. she is perfect pre-fight and has a mitigatable impact during a fight, that seems much more balanceable to me.

well its only going to activate sheen once because the item has a cooldown, and while it will activate bork twice the only reason eve even got bork was for the active slow wish she now gets from stalkers so is kinda redundant unless you go full on hit eve but even then the on hit build favors ap and riot changed he e to physical.

DemiluniS3 votes

I don't think any buffs at this moment can make her satisfying and fun as she used to be. They completly destroyed her identity and playstyle, and forced her to fill a role she wasn't even intended to.... so unless they deside to bring her back to be a damage dealer there's no even point in buffing her since it's not the evelynn I mained and loved for years

Mazianos3 votes

Right now Evelynn has her place in the jungle... struggling.

I have an idea to fix this, her q could restore X hp per monster hit. THERE, Sustain problems gone and she can now viably jungle instead of finishing a camp at 200hp and dying/backing after the second camp. She can't reliably go mid due to targeted abilities and high damage, high mobility, ranged champs mid, top is too tanky and bot is just... NO.

Jlesaistu1 votes

that...just a little more substain with e buff and she is fine

Sukishoo2 votes

Yeah, when I saw that it was like "WTF?" These changes don't help her problems in the slightest.

AbodyHUN6662 votes

Actually I saw a reddit post about eve jungle, saying with the right runes and masteries it works almost like the old jungle, and players need to learn this way. A rioter responded to it too, and I guess this is why she got so little buffs for now.

Waldaer2 votes

They are tweaking. I still have 70% winratio 20 games into new patch 4.20. Players just need to adapt

Skia Asteri2 votes

Hence why I chose to adjust my runes to that she worked fine and told people to not complain. Because "this" was the inevitable result. "This" being any buffs would be packaged with nerfs.

Auz the Ripper6 votes

Actually this improves laning Eve significantly , as she can spam Q like mad for clear and run for ganks. I'd be more happy if they'd rebuff her laning capabilities instead of keeping her in the jungle.

Yfrappefort2 votes

I don't even play Evelynn, but I tought her issues was that the new jungle blew her up too quickly.

I was expecting some kind of sustain buff, not a mana buff.

ImHerVoice2 votes

worthless buffs to anyone who plays AP tank/full tank eve like I do. only damage I ever built was the AP jungle item. And thats if I got kills. otherwise it was full tank Lol.

Cant build sunfire since it fucks up ganks (thanks riot)

BrutalCabbage1 votes

It will definitely help, even though it will likely not be enough. The reason Eve was so strong in early-mid season 4 was the low difficulty of jungle camps, the removal of reliable stealth detection and the sustain provided by Spirit Stone. She gets beaten hard by camps, but stealth is still a strong feature and the passive buffs will help her A LOT with the sustain.

Chaotic Reks4 votes

Her stealth is terrible when compared to, let's say Shaco. He can get right up close to his enemies while eve has to weave around champs... her stealth is lackluster and isn't really that strong other than making wards useless

crippler382 votes

the reason is she can ignore wards and stand in lane, shaco can stand next to you before you see him but he can't be invisible forever even with amazing cut and weaves, since eve can be anywhere and you can't know it unless she is deciding to attack or gets close on accident you can just get gibbed out of nowhere even if you have wards everywhere, shaco has a better escape stealth sure but to engage hers is way better just because she cannot be predicted no matter where you ward

Oh, wait. No. No that's not how that works, as Armor is a %Damage reduction with functionally diminishing returns, and even if Talon has a Last Whisper, that only negates 35% of that Armor.

Armor doesn't have diminishing returns.

50% damage reduction means it takes twice as much effort to kill someone. 66% damage reduction means it takes three times as much effort to kill someone. 75% damage reduction means it takes four times as much effort to kill someone. Those benchmarks are hit at 100, 200, and 300 armor, respectively. It's a linear scale. This is a common mistake that a lot of folks make, don't feel too bad about it.

Now, lets say that Talon is going after a foe with 150 armor and 100 magic resist. That isn't too far-fetched for a softish champion that picked up GA, right? Talon number 1 will deal magic damage on his Rake whilst Talon 2 deals physical damage. We'll assume Talon built Tripen because his player isn't a mouth-breather.

Talon 1's Rake damage is cut in half because he doesn't have any magic pen. Poor Talon 1.

Talon 2's Rake ignores 35% x 25% + 49 armor. That takes 150 armor down to 24, allowing Talon to still rip that armored ADC a new asshole.

And that, my friend, is why having one damage type is vastly superior to having mixed damage if you plan on buying penetration.
