Is Sion weak against Vlad?

So I played too horrible games as my main last night. One was a Zyra top (I kinda just sand bagged the lane because I couldn't touch her) and the other was Vladimir.

Now I hate Vladimir in general. I hate his Q, which is basically the neighbor who goes into your house without asking and grabs some sugar when you are on the can. It dealt (and this is probably because Sion is squishy) a huge chunk of damage with thunderlords, making it near impossible to farm. After a gank from his jungler (Vlad got first blood from a failed invade) he had enough power to tower dive, and tower dive he did. It was pretty much impossible to stop him.

Now I will admit that I played Sion horribly. I like to think I was so focused on the new Skin's flashy animations in my previous games that I had plan old forgotten my playstyle (not having league for 4 days might be the cause of that). And after losing a game where we lost every teamfight to a Zyra ult, I guess you could say I wasn't in the best mood when I told my team, "Vlad's presence tilts me" (I do not have a good track record with Vlad).

So was this just a bad match up for Sion, or did I just play horribly (I know I played horribly there is no denying that. But playing horribly on a champion that mine is weak against makes me feel a little better).

Sigh...this whole endeavor makes me embarrassed to have over `130K mastery on Sion. Makes me wish I could reclimb the mastery curve.

Tanks in general are countered by Vlad. Because they really lack the damage to punish vlad, and allow him to sustain while poking you down from a safe distance.

Vlad is generally weaker to poke, and other champions capable of preventing him from having that extended trade.

Ahh. That would explain why I outright hate Vlad (I main mainly tanks and sometimes juggernauts). And even though Sion has poke, I don't usually center my playstyle around it since I prefer health sustain over item 1056.

That and I guess I also hate rushing MR itemization...

It's not a great matchup for Sion. Most of your abilities are heavily telegraphed. And if Vlad can get an advantage in lane, he'll push it incessantly. If he's pushing you under tower, trying to dive consistently, call for jungle pressure. The lane is incredibly hard without strong jungle pressure.

Hmm, guess I probably should have played it safer. It was my friend's second time playing Shaco jungle that game. That's blinds for ya!

Sion has a 57% winrate against Vlad, which is higher than his general winrate according to Champion.gg, so I say no.

...well fuck me. I'm a Sion disgrace.

Well, I don't play either of those champs enough to say, but it might just be a lose lane win game type deal where Sion outscale and is better for his team than Vlad is

Vlad has crazy good sustained damage. Sion is a tank that can sustain a lot of initial burst. Obv. It depends how long they fight for

In my experience you should beat him early but as the game progresses if it's even or vlad gets ahead you won't be able to kill him.

I like to harass vlad early. And if you let him push in its a pretty easy gank if you time things right and don't miss. Sion does pretty well against most champs. It's just a matter of landing your abilities which is much harder against certain champs. He also has solid wave clear. If you want to play passive and farm.

Personally, i think he could be a decent counter considering he can dodge both of your hard cc's (ult and Q knockup) Can outsustain you, scales equally if not better to you, and still has a powerful teamfight presence. The advantage sion has is CC, which is very helpful in teamfights. (Also, even though sion's e reduces armor, not many vlads build armor so...)

Vlad is sorta like Nasus: Pretty bad early game, but with levels and farm, become almost impossible to stop. Sion can only be very aggressive against these matchups for only so long, but eventually they will start to outdamage him. Play a little bit more aggressively against them, and try poking them out. Due to sion's ability to push the tower, be wary of ganks, as they will help snowball those lanes.

Rush a item 3211 is probably your best bet, and stack your hp. (W passive) Also, as Sion you can apply way more map pressure than either of those champs. So use that to your advantage, save tp, walk to lane, ult into another lane on backs, etc. Anything to put your team ahead.
