Spitballing here: barrier is currently a WAY underused summoner spell, because it competes so directly with heal: one is always stronger than the other. So what if we replaced barrier with a new summoner, "Stasis", that was basically a Zhonya's active on a flash-like cooldown?

I'm also not sure that it would necessarily counter assassins. It might be really good on assassins, too. Go in, full combo the adc, then stasis while waiting on cooldowns or for follow up. I'd love to build Diana without a zhonya's, but still have that effect.
Would probably be hella broken on Fizz, though, who could E -> zhonya -> stasis -> E for like 8 seconds of untargetability.

I dunno, I'm not sure that Zhonya's is actually that great at avoiding ganks. It means you can't move for 2.5 seconds.
Stasis would be good vs tower dives, but also good for diving.
