Does Kha'zix really need to be this reliant on Isolation?
**TL;DR: Kha'zix does shit for damage outside of isolation evolved Q. Balance it in his kit by allowing for typical assassin mechanics through a rework of his passive and redistribution of damage. **
The primary damage dealing ability of Kha'zix, his Q, is so heavily glued to isolation, that unless the enemy team makes a mistake and has a squishy that just walks away from his team, he does negligible damage. By negligible damage, I mean that his non-isolated Q does comparable damage to Riven's Ki burst--which is primarily used for the stun.
All you have to do to avoid the insane damage his evolved and isolated Q does, is to stay with your team/minions/tower. As a jungle Kha'zix player, I feel like it's not possible to gank bot lane because you will never have enough damage or cc to make it worth the time to deal with having 2 opponents that will always be together.
So here's my idea to fix it. Don't worry, I understand that forced isolation and everything would have balance issues. It's not that.
Reduce the damage of his evolved Q. Probably to an extra 50% bonus AD, rather than 100% plus 10xLevel.
Rework his passive to compensate. The extra magic damage that it gives is essentially negligible, especially since it scales off of AP, so we'll scrap that.
New passive:
--------Evolved Combat: When Kha'Zix is not visible to the enemy team, he gains Unseen Threat. Unseen Threat lasts until consumed and has no internal cooldown. Unseen Threat causes the next basic attack or ability against a champion to slow them by 25%.
Kha'zix absorbs the strength of his foe during a fight. Each ability that hits an enemy champion or large monster marks them with a stack of Prey, of up to 2 stacks. With every stack of Prey, Kha'zix's abilities deal an increased {Per rank of R, (5/10%), (10/20%), (15/30), (20/40%)} damage. Upon casting an ability on a target with 2 stacks, Prey is consumed.------------
I don't know what good numbers would be. It's more to show a plausible pattern than actually give damage output values. The idea behind the stacks is that Kha'zix would actually become a healthy assassin with counterplay and more reliable damage. Instead of walking into a bush and being Q-ed for over half your health, it would require the Kha'zix to land all his abilities to do maximum damage. Could you still walk into a bush and die very quickly? Sure, but same goes for walking in on most assassins. This way, it would require at the very least that he land Q-W-Q which gives ample time to escape, or blow his chase/escape to get an extra stack to E-W-Q.
The stacks would have to be consumed in order to not turn him into a bruiser that tries to last as long as he can in fights. The goal is to get in, blow the combo, kill, get the reset, get out. Similar, I suppose, to Zed. Additionally, this would allow Kha'zix the freedom to choose a target without requiring isolation. When isolation is included, the damage would remain roughly the same, but it would be better spread through his kit to balance his dismal non-isolation damage.
