I only partially agree.

Lets assume equil skill matchup, you pick Zed or FIzz (some sort of bursty assassain made to dick on mages) and I pick garen or nasus. Again, all things said, the tank has the advantage in that match thus our assassain cant become fed and bursty.

So, theres an element of knowlege in champ select.

Next, as you play more games you learn more and more what your champs can do. A year ago I would have never EVER laned Morgana into fizz, because "morgana is a support she will die" - but black sheild stops fizz's ult, and morgana's sustain can outdo fizzs poke. Shes also a better cser.

There is an element of champ knowlege there.

Keeping on the morg examples, I always used to start q and fire it off as soon as possible. Now, I am m7 morg on 2 accounts and I know my champ. I start w for that sweet sweet level 2 advantage most times, and I do crazy shots with my q, also sometimes I will literally just walk past and behind their adc to shoot him in the ass. Hard to dodge that.

There is an element of indivdual mechanics there.

These are all skills that can be built.
