Addressing Volibear:

Author's Note: TL;DR is at the bottom but I'd really enjoy it if people gave this a full read. It's not too too long I promise.

First off, I want to say I don't want to see the guy get a total rework. I think he's actually a really cool design. He's simple and I think he's not someone that should be super complex. Sometimes simplicity is nice.

I think instead, we should add a little to his kit to push him into competitiveness.

Second off, if it really needs to be said how much help he needs:

Third: What are his problems:

He's decently strong early game, but he's not strong enough to be a bully. He's no Lee Sin or Elise. He's also so bad late game he might as well not exist. He has no tank steroid and he's too slow of a threat. He doesn't instaburst anyone, he doesn't last long enough, he can attempt to peel a diver instead of diving himself with his Q but that only does so much (or rather, so little).

So what do I propose?

Changes that fit his fantasy. I think a big rawr thunder bear that's simple to play is super awesome. I really want to play him more and it's a shame he just doesn't feel good to. As much as I love Jungle, seeing the guy Top would be fine too.

  1. Add a defensive steroid. He needs it badly.

He doesn't gain resistances so he just falls off late game so insanely hard. We have all these super strong tanks and bruisers between Maokai, Sejuani, Shen, Shyvana, Jarvan, Warwick (who is basically just a better him right now really) who while Warwick also falls off late, not enough so that his early and mid are justifiable for him, Rammus, Malphite... Then you have Voli who charges in and dies doing it.

I suggest putting it on his R. It gives him a weak point of when his Ult is down and gives him a strong point of when it's up, and it makes it so that he can use his thundery slaps when he needs to. Just make it so he gains resistances on R so that he doesn't just drop like a fly when everyone's built.

  1. This suggestion came from a Diamond friend of mine so I'm not gonna take credit for it, but his Passive needs to be changed. You cant control when it's used and it's just too easy to counter with Grievous Wounds. To say what he did, people like Soraka and Mundo (Mundo being the better comparison) heal so much that Grievous Wounds keep them in check, not make it so that for a cheap amount their heals flat out don't exist.

My suggestion? Let's give into his fantasy. What happens when a bear mauls you? When it slaps you? You get knocked back and you bleed. I wanna play a thunder rawr bear that slaps people around when mauling them. Why not add that? And furthermore, what is the fantasy of facing a creature like a bear? Trying to distract it! Trying to pull its attention away.

I'd like to think of something like Press the Attack in a very very loose sense that rewards you for mauling the same target and not getting distracted by someone else trying to call you a bad bear and to play nice.

I suggest that every blow knocks the target back, but not by much. The first slap, just a very tiny amount (or maybe even the second). Very negligible. The next, a tiny bit more. The next, decent amount. And finally (before it gets stupid and makes it so he's kiting them out of his own range) make it so that it instead finally knocks them down (think of a ministun that isn't affected by tenacity because, well, it doesn't last long). And I suggest they also add a bleed, starting at a small dot but adding up to a more serious amount with the blows as he mauls your flesh away.

I think these two changes would help him thoroughly as a Champion. I think they don't alter his kit much, they keep him similar for players who both like him and those who want to play him, I think they keep him as a simple Champion that's easy for new players to pick up and veteran players to just have something simple to relax on, I think they fit his fantasy well, and I think they make him viable.

He's the only Champion on na.op.gg statistics that has so little play he actually has a "RIP not enough data" note on him. The only. Out of well over a hundred Champions.

He needs help and I dont think flat buffs will do it, but with a bit of help the big bear will finally be enjoyable on the Rift.

TL;DR I don't like TL;DR's but I promised one, so here it is: -Add resistance steroid to Voli's R -Rework Voli's Passive to make his autos cause increasingly strong knockbacks (not enough that he starts to kite himself) and increasingly strong bleeds, ending with a ministun knockdown that isn't affected by tenacity (emphasis on mini) -Rawr it's a thunderbear

Adding more displacements to the game. I can't agree especially with this iteration which if I'm to understand is delivered via AA which has Zero counterplay

A big problem for Voli is that he easily gets kited and rendered useless by hard CC. What changes would you suggest to remedy this weakness?

all he needs is just a unstoppable effect, immune to cc when running with q. he still wont be broken with the one shot meta we have right now. the problem with his kit is he gives way too much counterplay for enemies. easily kitable.
